Paris is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. People flock to this magical city for a romantic weekend getaway with their significant other or a fun-filled short break with their friends. No matter who you’re travelling with, we have three fantastic attractions that you won’t want to miss on your long weekend in Paris.

Top Paris Attractions for a long weekend

Whether you’re looking to dive into a world of rich history, spectacular architecture or romantic scenery, these three attractions will fulfil your Parisian dream.

The Louvre

Famous for its gigantic glass pyramid entrance, the Louvre is the world’s largest museum and historical monument. Once inside this breathtaking building, you can choose to have an audio guide, a guided tour or to take your time and explore the Louvre yourself.

You could spend an entire day here exploring all the wonderful historical treasures that it holds. This museum is home to over 38,000 artefacts, art and sculptures dating from prehistory to the 21st century. Of course, one of the most popular attractions inside the Louvre is the painting of Mona Lisa herself.

A long weekend in Paris wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the spectacular Louvre Museum.

The Eiffel Tower

If you go to Paris and don’t see the Eiffel Tower, did you really go to Paris? This wrought iron structure is the most-visited paid monument in the world. Over 7 million people climb the stairs of the Eiffel Tower each year.

Built in 1889 for the World’s Fair, this 1,063 ft tall monument is the tallest structure in Paris and is home to the highest public observation deck in Europe. It was not always loved as it is now, though. The famous author, Guy de Maupassant, is credited with calling it an eyesore and making it his habit to eat lunch under the structure since this was the only vantage point with which he did not have to see the strucure. Once inside the Eiffel Tower, you can enjoy the panoramic views of the city and the Champ de Mars from the top level, sample some traditional French dishes in the restaurant on the second level, or sip on a hot cup of coffee and watch the world go by in the cafe on the first level.

It’s worth returning at night to see the Eiffel Tower covered in sparkling lights. This has to be one of the most romantic things to see on your weekend stay in Paris.

The Sacré Coeur

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris is one of the most beautiful buildings in the City. The pristine white structure sitting proudly on top of butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city, can be seen from miles around.

Many people spend their time enjoying the architecture and jaw-dropping views of the city from the outside of the Sacré Coeur, but many wonders lie inside those giant wooden doors. Entrance into this beautiful building is free and inside you can find some of the most moving religious artwork in all of Paris.

The huge dome which dominates the main section of the church has been carefully painted with depictions of Jesus Christ himself, welcoming people into the church. The contrast between the large stone pillars and delicate golden accents is simply breathtaking.

A visit to this spectacular religious monument is an absolute must during your weekend in Paris.
