How to get from Lisbon Airport to Sintra by train

Comboios de Portugal provides regular urban services that travel from Lisbon to Sintra, departing from the Oriente Train Station, which is located only 3 km away from the airport.

To get to the train station from the airport, you’ll have to get on the metro and ride for 6 minutes until the third stop “Gare do Oriente Station”. From there, you can hop on an urban line towards Sintra. The Sintra line departs every 15 minutes and the average travel time is 45 minutes.

How much is the train from Lisbon Airport to Sintra?

To travel by train from Lisbon Airport to Sintra, you’ll need to catch the Metro first, a one-way metro fare is just €1.65 and is valid for an unlimited number of journeys for 60 minutes. The CP urban trains operate the route from Oriente Station to Sintra from 05:41-01:08. The metro trains of Lisbon run from 06:30 to 01:00.

Where do I get it from?

The metro station of the airport is located on the right side of the arrivals hall of Terminal 1. If you arrive at Terminal 2, you will have to use the free shuttle bus that travels between the two terminals.

Once you arrive at Oriente Train Station, buy your tickets and check the information screens to see from which platform your train departs.

If you are on a tight budget, the train journey from the airport is ideal for your wallet. However, having to change from metro to train can be somewhat inconvenient and dangerous if you are travelling with children and many pieces of luggage.
