The most best way to get from Prague Airport to the city centre is by taxi. Taxis in Prague are usually white or yellow and easily recognisable with their taxi logos and bright roof signs.

The taxis at the airport work on a first-come-first-served basis, so prepare yourself for the possibility of having to wait in line during peak season. Under normal traffic conditions, the taxi trip from Prague Airport to the city takes approximately 35 minutes and costs around €31 (CZK 725).

How to get from Prague Airport to centre by bus

There is an airport express service (AE Express) that connects Prague Airport to the city centre. The service departs from Terminal 1 every 30 minutes and takes between 30 and 45 minutes to reach the centre, depending on traffic. The line will take you to “Hlavní nádraží” (Prague Main Railway Station) in the centre and tickets cost just €4 (CZK 100).

Alternatively, you can take a public bus, however, the journey is not direct and involves transferring onto the metro to get to the city centre of Prague. Your best bet is bus No. 119, travelling from the airport towards Nadrazi Veleslavin (Green Metro Line A) every 15 minutes. In order to get to the centre you will have to take the metro and stop either at Můstek or Muzeum station. Another option is bus No. 100, which goes towards Zličín (Yellow Metro Line B) and is a wise option if you are travelling to the western part of the city.

How much is the bus from Prague Airport to city centre?

A one-way ticket for the AE Express from Prague Airport to the city costs just €4 (CZK 100), making it a great budget choice. Tickets for public buses cost less than €2 (CZK 50) for a 30 to 40-minute trip.

The AE Express runs from 05:30 until 22:00. Buses No. 119 and 100 run roughly from 04:30 to 23:30. The Metro trains run from 05:00 to 00:00.

The AE Express bus leaves from the bus stop just outside of Terminal 1 and 2 every 30 minutes.

Buses No. 119 and 100 depart from exits D, E and F of Terminal 1 and C, D and E of Terminal 2.

Taking the express bus is a great budget choice as tickets are cheap and the service is direct. However, if your plane lands after 22:00 or before 05:30, you’ll need to take a taxi or give the public bus system a go.

Please note that if you land after 23:00, you'll probably have to take the night bus 907. It takes roughly 30 minutes to get to Hradčanská. Don't forget that the metro doesn't run at this time of night either.

You need to purchase an additional half-price ticket if you are carrying a large suitcase on public buses.
