Taxis are the most comfortable option to get you to the city centre of Rome from the port, however they do involve some extra walking to get to the rank and they additionally will be expensive. It is always best to arrange a taxi transfer in advance to ensure that you have a set price and door-to-door service.

You will need to take a taxi from the cab stand at the Station, which is a short walk (10-15 minutes) or available by public bus transfer (2.00€), unless you book a taxi in advance.

Where do I get it from?

The station at Civitavecchia is where you'll need to get the train from to reach Rome's central city. The station is located around 1km from the port, and you can get there via walking or by the bus, which will cost an extra 2.00€/pp for the journey.

Convenience

Although there are various options for the train that are much cheaper than a taxi, you cannot take the train direct from the port. The local trains are inexpensive, but the journey very long, due to multiple stops. The faster trains will also only stop at the main station, meaning you might have to take another mode of transport to get to your final destination.

Leave yourself plenty of time to buy your tickets from the station at Civitavecchia as the station is small with not many counters, therefore there can be queues at peak hours!

Always ensure that your ticket is validated before you board the train, as you can incur a heavy fine.
There is only one Fast-Train per day leaving from the Civitavecchia Station, so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get to the station.
