Taxi & Private Transfer from Fiumicino Airport to Rome

There are two categories of private transportation from Fiumicino airport to the city center. The Roman taxis that are white with the City Council’s crest printed on the door and the private cars with a chauffeur.

There is no need to preorder a taxi in advance, there are plenty queuing outside of the arrival exit Terminals (T1, T2,T3 and T5).

Since 2012 there is a flat price €48  from Fiumicino airport to Rome city ring, meaning withing the Aurelian walls and the ride will take about 45 minutes.

Taking the train from Fiumicino Airport to City


Taking the local train is the fastest option to get from Fiumicino Airport to the centre of Rome. The railway station can be found outside of Terminal 3, it is well signposted and about 10-15 minutes walking from your arrival gate.

There are two types of train that can take you to Rome city center. The first and fastest option is Leonardo Express, a non-stop train from Fiumicino airport to Termini (Rome’s main train station).

Leonardo Express departs every 30 minutes, starting from 06.38 until 23.38 and costs 14 € per person, you can book your tickets online here.

The second option is the local train FL1 that connects Fiumicino Airport and the center of Rome, stopping at the intermediate train stations Trastevere, Ostiense, and Tiburtina.

The train ticket costs  8 € and departs every 15-30 minutes starting from 05.58 am. FL1  is the most convenient option for people staying at  Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona or the Pantheon area.

Keep in mind that there is no train after 23:38.

Bus Transfer from Fiumicino Airport to City


The cheapest option to reach Rome city center is definitely by bus. There are plenty private bus companies that you can choose from. The majority of the companies offer the possibility to buy the tickets online.

The bus departure points is outside of Terminal 3, about 10- 15 minutes walking from your arrival exit. The ride will take you 45 to 70 minutes depending on the traffic and the number of the stops.

The bus companies are:

Terravision: A non stop ride from Fiumicino to Rome Termini (main train station),  is the cheapest option and costs 4 € if you buy the ticket online. From the ticket booth the price is 6 €.

Sit Bus: From Fiumicino airport via a couple of stops to Vatican, costs 6 € from the tickets booth and online.

Tam Bus: Links Fiumimcino airport with Termini and Ostiense Satation is Rome. The ticket costs 5 € and 8 € if you book a return.

Other bus services from Fiumicino are Schiaffini and Contral.
