Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) is centrally located between the cities of Cologne and Bonn, 15 kilometers southeast of Cologne city center. Annually, the airport welcomes more than 10 million passengers, making it the third-busiest in Germany. 

 

As the largest low-cost hub in Europe, the two terminals at Cologne Airport are home to nearly 30 airlines, including local airlines Lufthansa and Eurowings, and major carriers like British Airways and Turkish Airlines.

The German Red Cross is stationed at the airport in Cologne to provide assistance to passengers with reduced mobility (PRM). The service –including the provision of a wheelchair– can be used within the airport, or upon arrival in the car park, right up until you board the plane. 

 

Additionally, elevators, ramps, accessible toilets, and disabled car spaces have been installed across each terminal.

 

A porter service is also available for €54 for up to 30 minutes to help passengers with bulky or excess luggage upon arrival or departure.

Cologne-Bonn Airport is very accessible to visitors, with 12,500 car parks available in three parking garages (P1-3) and two parking areas. The best parking area for Terminal 1 (T1) is P1, and for Terminal (T2), the P2 garage is the closest. On Sundays, parking at Cologne Airport only costs €3 between 09:00 and 19:00.

 

Note that if you’re picking someone up, the Kiss & Fly Zone for T1 Arrivals is outside T1 Departures. Finally, most Cologne Airport car rental companies are stationed on the designated car hire level of T2.

Terminal Information

Cologne Bonn Airport consists of two terminals: Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2). The oldest of the two, T1, is a single-storey building with a unique decentralized layout and star-shaped boarding areas.

 

T2 is a three-storey building, with the Arrivals on Level 1, a Travel Market on the Level 2 mezzanine, and Departures on Level 3.

 

The terminals are connected by undercover walkways, and the train station connecting passengers to the city center is located on the basement level.
