Must-See Beaches in Rhodes
Beyond the towering walls of Rhodes’ medieval Old Town, you can find some of Greece’s most idyllic beaches. As the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, it has a lot of shoreline to go around, from large beach resorts to golden sand beaches that stretch for miles, to stunning turquoise waters with epic watersports. It’s no wonder that this island attracts 1.4 million beach lovers each year. Whether you prefer a sun lounge with cocktail service, want to spend the day catching some waves, or you like to nestle in among craggy rocks and untamed landscapes, we’ll help you we’ll help you discover the best beaches in Rhodes, Greece, for a perfect day by the sea.

Lindos Beach
Located just a short 5–10 minute walk from the historic village center on the east coast of Rhodes, Lindos Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The golden sandy shores, lined with sunbeds and umbrellas, and quaint tavernas, are framed by the town’s impressive and iconic Acropolis, which sits atop a large cliff overlooking the bay. Classic whitewashed houses add the final touch to this postcard-worthy destination, providing the perfect backdrop against the calm turquoise waters.
This Blue Flag beach is renowned for its shallow waters, and since it is extremely well managed and well maintained with facilities and services, it is one of the best beaches in Rhodes for families. Lindos is actually made up of three different beaches, and the furthest stretch, Palace Beach, is best suited for families with small children as the waters there are especially shallow and calm.

Prasonisi Beach
On the southern tip of Rhode Island, where the Mediterranean and Aegean seas meet, you’ll find the secret beach of Prasonisi. This beach is so spectacular because it only exists at low tide. Most of the time, Prasonisi Beach is covered in water, forming a miniature island that, when the tide recedes, reveals a stunning beach with the most breathtaking views. Picture this: a desert-like oasis, with a huge stretch of sand, the sea on either side, and impressive rugged mountains in the middle. Perfection!
The west side of Prasonisi is one of the best beaches in Rhodes for water sports, although sunbathers may find themselves buried in sand thanks to the optimal windy conditions that wind and kite surfers love. On the other hand, the eastern side of the beach is sheltered and has been set up with beach chairs, umbrellas, cafes, and restaurants, making it the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon.

Tsambika Beach
Tsambika Beach is one of the best sandy beaches in Rhodes, stretching 1.5 kilometers along the rocky coastline beneath the Tsambika Mountain. It’s the perfect spot for hikers to cool off after summiting to the old Monastery of Panagia, and for sun-lovers to relax by the cool, turquoise waters, before heading to one of the surrounding beach bars for the evening. Since Tsambika is a little out of the way, this lovely beach is never too crowded and is only partially managed. Although this does mean that it keeps most of its natural beauty, it also means that beach chairs and other facilities are generally limited.

Faliraki Beach
Thanks to its proximity to town and abundance of activities and facilities, Faliraki Beach is one of the most bustling and popular beaches in Rhodes. Picture golden sands, endless sun lounges, lively bars with room to dance, low-key tavernas, and water activities like jet-skiing and parasailing – there truly is something for everyone. Securing its place as one of the top beaches in Rhodes, Faliraki Beach’s clean and clear waters have been recognized with a Blue Flag, making it ideal for families with kids, too.
A little further down this stretch of shoreline, you’ll find the much quieter Faliraki Nudist Beach. As the name suggests, this is one of the only dedicated nudist beaches on the island. People of all ages visit this nudist beach to work on that perfect no-lines tan and enjoy the splendor of this golden sand beach. Faliraki Nudist beach is much calmer than its neighbor, so you’ll only find one or two restaurants, with a focus on good food rather than partying.

Glystra Beach
The tranquility and secluded setting of Glystra Beach will appeal to nature lovers and anyone seeking a little privacy. With easy access to the villages of Kiotari and Lardos in the southern part of the island, it is one of the nicest beaches in Rhodes for those looking to disconnect and relax in the shade of trees on silky-soft sand.
Unlike many beaches in Rhodes, Glystra lies slightly off the beaten path and attracts fewer tourists, making it one of the closest things to a virgin beach on the island. Even so, you’ll still find sun loungers available, or you can settle in for the day wherever there’s space.

Elli Beach
Made famous by several Greek films in the 60s and its iconic offshore diving platform, Elli Beach is the place to be if you like an epic backdrop for your cocktail and sun-kissed photos. As the main beach in Rhodes town, it’s easily reachable on foot and ideal for a sundowner as you watch the sun set on yet another magical day in paradise.
There are multiple day clubs on offer, as well as sunbeds and umbrellas, and if you’re feeling energetic, you can join in a game of beach volleyball or tennis. Note that Eli is a pebble and shingle beach, so if you’re looking for sandy beaches in Rhodes with a similar vibe, your best bet is Faliraki Beach.
