Arriving at Charleroi Airport

Charleroi Airport arrivals from a non-Schengen country will need to pass through Border Control before collecting any luggage from the allocated baggage carousel. If you’re a non-EU citizen, be sure to check if there are any visa requirements for your country, before entering Belgium. If you’re travelling inside the Schengen Zone, you can skip Border Control, but you should always carry some official ID on you, regardless. After you’ve collected any baggage, make your way past Customs and into the Arrivals Hall; passengers arriving at T2 will first need to walk to T1 to exit.

Charleroi Airport Transport

Arrivals to Charleroi Airport will have no problem reaching Brussels’ City Centre thanks to the availability of several public and private transport options. Take a shuttle to the city centre or connect with a nearby train station by bus in around 20 minutes. Alternatively, airport taxis and private transfer services can be found in front of the terminal building, in between T1 and T2.

There are self-service lockers available outside the terminal which can be booked for a maximum period of 24 hours. Prices for lockers range from €6 to €10, depending on the size of the locker.

How long does it take to get past customs and immigration at Charleroi Airport?

If you’re an EU citizen and have an electronic passport, you can move through Immigration and Customs in a matter of minutes. For non-EU citizens, the wait time can increase to 30 minutes, especially during summer. Note that if you have arrived from another Schengen country, you won’t need to pass through Immigration and Customs.

Can I fast-track through security for a connecting flight at Charleroi Airport?

If you’re travelling from one Schengen country to another, you won’t need to pass through security again, simply follow the ‘Transit@BrusselsCharleroiConnects’ signs to reach the information terminal, where you will find your new departure gate.
