Checking in at Bratislava Airport
Checking in at Bratislava Airport is straightforward as the airport is well-designed and well-signposted. In many cases, you can check in online and simply head to your airline’s check-in desk to drop your bag. In other cases, you’ll need to do the full check-in process at departures. When to arrive at Bratislava Airport?
Bratislava Airport recommends that you arrive 2 hours before your flight if you are going to a Schengen or domestic location. For Non-Schengen flights, you should also arrive 2 hours before to give you ample time to go through passport control. At a minimum, arrive 40 minutes before your scheduled flight time, but only if you’re traveling at a quiet time of year.
What’s next?
After checking in and leaving your bags with your airline, you can head to the security checkpoint. The checkpoint has plenty of signage to help departures from Bratislava Airport understand the security procedures. You’ll need to remove your outerwear (e.g. coats, hats, scarves) and place them into a tray for scanning. In some cases, you’ll need to put in your shoes too.

Once all of your items are on the security belt, you’ll be prompted to walk through the metal detectors and collect your items on the other side. From there, you can head to the Bratislava Airport departures terminal.

Departures at Bratislava Airport has everything you need for a comfortable transit, including free Wi-Fi, charging points, ATMs, comfy seating, baby change facilities, and accessible toilets. As for food and drink, there is a selection of restaurants and coffee shops such as Apron Bar and Volare. The Bratislava Airport departures Duty-Free provides an array of souvenirs and gift items. You can also find a newsagent for books, magazines, and snacks.
If you’d like a quieter place to relax with fast free WiFi and complementary snacks, you can book a spot in the Mastercard Caproni Lounge. It is open to any passengers traveling through BTS for a fee of €30 per person. It is open from 05:00 – 21:30 but you are only permitted access for 2 hours before your scheduled flight. Priority Pass, Mastercard, and Lounge Key members can access the VIP lounge for free.
