Arriving at Seoul Airport
Arriving at Incheon Airport depends on your flight. Your plane may arrive at the passenger terminal and connect you directly to the boarding gate on the second floor. Alternatively, some flights deliver passengers to the concourse at Incheon Airport. From there, you can enter the building through the boarding gate on the second floor and then take the shuttle train to the passenger terminal.
Once you’ve arrived at the passenger terminal, head to “immigration”. It helps to fill out a customs declaration form for your carry-on luggage before you arrive to make this process smoother. This is available on the Incheon Airport website. You’ll be asked to hand in this form at passport control and display your travel documents (e.g. passport, visas, and so on). You’ll also need to fill out a Korea Arrival card.
Occasionally, you and your fellow passengers may be quarantined for a short while when entering the country. This is highly dependent on your flight of origin and the current epidemics/pandemics occurring at the time. Quarantine may include fever monitoring, sample collections, and testing. However, quarantine at the South Korean border is relatively rare.
After passing through immigration successfully, follow the signs for baggage reclaim. There is a screen at the entrance of the baggage reclaim area that lists all of the flights and the corresponding carousel number. Head to the carousel to find your luggage. Oversized luggage is delivered to the kiosks by luggage belt 5 and 17 in Terminal 1, and 4, 6, 14, and 16 in Terminal 2.
Once you’ve collected your luggage, it’s time to go through customs. If you have no items to declare, there’s no need to hand in a customs declaration form. You can walk through the green lane to the Incheon Airport Arrivals Hall. If you have items to declare, walk through the “Goods to declare” lane and hand in your declaration form. You may also need to pay a customs fee.
