It takes around 45 minutes to travel the 50km from Seoul Incheon Airport to Myeongdong by taxi.

Taking a taxi from Incheon airport to Myeongdong is always the most convenient transport option, especially if you are new to the city and if you are travelling with children or with heavy luggage. Although the most expensive option, taxis provide 24/7 services, in the comfort and safety of a private vehicle.
Moreover, if you prefer to travel at a fixed rate price, you can always pre-book a ride with a private transfer company.

Taking the KAL Limousine airport bus from Seoul airport to Myeongdong is a cost-savvy and comfortable way to travel. A one-way bus ticket costs €11.60 (₩16,000). Moreover, children aged 0 to 3 can travel free of charge provided they will not occupy separate seats and children aged 6 to 12 have discounted tickets, costing €7.25 (₩10,000); this applies for Korean passport holders only and these tickets need to be purchased directly on the bus.

The bus leaves from Incheon International Airport Terminal 1, Floor 1, Gate 4, KAL Limousine Service Counter (No. 22) or Incheon International Airport Terminal 2, Floor 1, KAL Limousine Service Counter.

The KAL Limousine bus is a great option for those that want to travel using a direct route, and on a budget. Not only do the Incheon airport buses provide comfortable vehicles, but they also take you straight to the centre of Myeongdong. Nevertheless, if your hotel is far from the bus stop or if you are travelling between 22:40 – 05:45, then this option might not be the best for you.

How to get from Seoul airport to Myeongdong by subway or train

Your cheapest option to get from Incheon International (ICN) airport to Myeongdong is to take the subway or the AREX fast train and then switch to the subway in Downtown Seoul. Unfortunately, there is no direct route that runs between these two locations, you will have to stop at Seoul Station for both options. From Seoul Station, you will have to transfer to line 4 and alight 2 stops further at Myeongdong Station. The subway runs every 15 minutes and takes around 1 hour to reach Myeongdong.

How much is a railway ticket from Incheon airport to Myeongdong?

A combined one-way subway ticket from Seoul airport to Myeongdong costs €3 (₩4,150). However, if you wish to take the train and subway route, the combined tickets are slightly more expensive, costing €5.80 (₩8,000).
You can purchase your tickets in cash at the Incheon Transportation Centre on B1F at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, at convenience stores inside Incheon International Airport, or at the KTO Tourist Information Centre near Arrival Gates 5 and 10 on 1F at Terminal 1.

Where do I get it from?

The airport railway is easy to find as there are many signs around the Arrivals Hall. The railway is at B1 Incheon Airport; both, the train and subway stop at Seoul station where you will then need to transfer to subway line 4.

A 'T Money card' is needed to take the subway or other types of public transportation. Individual tickets can be purchased, but these are more expensive and a double fee is charged when transferring from subway to bus.

It is good to know that if you have purchased a 'Discover Seoul Pass', you can use the AREX express for free, and for those using the subway, you can use the card as a 'T Money card', so no additional 'T Money Card' has to be purchased.
