Not only are taxis available 24/7, but they are the only means of transportation from Seoul airport to the city that will take you door-to-door. The total journey time will be around 60 minutes, depending on traffic, and will cost approximately 33€ (44,000 won) based on a taximeter. Apart from your standard taxis, there are also International cars where the drivers speak fluent English, Japanese and Chinese (these are at least 20% more expensive than regular taxis), deluxe cars that are more luxurious sedans and jumbo taxis that can carry up to 8 people. Please bear in mind that most of these taxis require advanced booking and cost more than a standard taxi.

The Airport Railroad Express (AREX) provides two different trains from Incheon International (ICN) airport to Seoul; the Express Train and the All Stop train. The Express train runs directly from Incheon airport to Seoul in just 40 minutes and costs 7.2€ (9,500 won). The All Stop train stops at different stations along the way until it reaches Seoul Station, including Myeondong, Hongdae and Itaewon. The total journey time for this train is 60 minutes and tickets cost 3.12€ (4,150 won).

How much is the train from Incheon airport to Seoul?

The Express Train from Seoul airport to the city costs 7.2€ (9,500 won) for an adult and 5.6€ (7,500 won) for children. You can purchase your tickets from the AREX Travel Center in both Terminal 1 and 2. You will receive a small discount if you present a plane ticket from any of the following airlines; Jeju Air, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, T’way Air, or Eastar Jet. You can pay in card or cash for the Express train. The All Stop train is a bit cheaper at 3.12€ (4,150 won) from Terminal 1 and 3.60€ (4,750 won) from Terminal 2. You will need to purchase either a local transportation card or the foreigner-exclusive prepaid transportation card MPASS, for international visitors. Please bear in mind that you will also need to pay a 500 won refundable deposit that can be claimed back at your station of choice in Seoul. You can only pay in cash for the All Stop train.

Where do I get it from?

After collecting your luggage, head towards the signs that say “Airport Railroad from the Arrivals Hall” and take the escalator down to the 1st floor. You will see a long hallway in front of you. Walk along the hallway until you reach the “AREX Incheon International Airport Terminal 1” sign at the Transportation Center. After purchasing your tickets, you will see two gates in front of you, the orange one is the Express Train and the blue one is for the All Stop train.

Convenience

Taking one of the Airport Railroad Express (AREX) trains into Seoul Station is a convenient and fast transfer option. Since you have both a direct train and a train with 13 different stops, you’re highly likely to find a route that drops you close to your accommodation. Both the Express Train and the All Stop train run frequently throughout most of the day and night, so there’s likely to be one waiting for you when you land.

Editor’s Note

Be sure to check where your accommodation is located in Seoul. If it's in the heart of the city then taking the Express Train to Seoul Station will be the best option for you. However, if it's in one of the outer areas such as Itaewon, Hongdae or Myeondong, then taking the All Stop train may be better for you.

Useful Tips

You can purchase your Express Train tickets in cash or on card, but you can only pay for your All Stop tickets by using cash.
Be aware that there is a slight increase in ticket price for using the All Stop train from Terminal 2.
On top of your All Stop ticket price you must pay a 500 won deposit that can be reclaimed when you arrive at your destination station.

Taking the City Limousine Bus from Incheon International (ICN) airport to Seoul is a comfortable and fairly convenient transfer option. With a 70 minute journey time, the bus is the slowest mode of transport, however, at 6.80€ (9,000 won) per ticket, it’s extremely affordable.

Where do I get it from?

Once you have your luggage, head out towards the exit doors of the Terminal and you will see a collection of lifts and stairs. If you land in Terminal 1, the bus stop is on Floor 1 at stop number 6. Whereas, the bus can be found on floor Basement 1 at stop number 24 in Terminal 2.

Convenience

Although the City Limousine Bus is the slowest transportation option, it’s an extremely comfortable and reliable service. The bus leaves every 25 minutes and serves both Terminal 1 and 2, meaning you won’t need to manoeuvre your luggage between terminals. There’s also ample luggage space for larger items under the bus. However, once you reach Seoul, you may need to switch to a different mode of transport to reach your hotel.
