Shanghai Pudong Airport Arrivals Information

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) features two main terminals, Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2), and a separate satellite terminal that is connected via a shuttle train on the airside.

Arriving at Shanghai Pudong Airport

Visitors from 43 countries – including most of Europe and South America, as well as Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland – can currently enter China without a visa for stays of up to 30 days.

All other Shanghai Pudong International Airport arrivals will need to apply for a visa before traveling and present it, along with a valid passport, to the immigration officer after disembarking. Furthermore, all arrivals at Shanghai Pudong Airport need to fill in an Arrival Card; these are often handed out during the flight, or there will be some available in the Immigration Hall. The other half of this card will be needed for your Shanghai Airport Departure.

After clearing Immigration, follow the signs to the Baggage Claim area and refer to the screens above each conveyor belt to find your flight. Once you have your luggage, the next step is to fill in the China Customs Baggage Declaration Form. Be mindful of limitations around alcohol, currency, and biological materials; use the Green Channel if you have nothing to declare, and the Red Channel if you have marked some items.

Once you’re in the clear, proceed to the Arrivals Hall where you can be on your way to your final destination!

*Some airports in China are starting to digitalize the Arrivals Card process.
