Directions for Your Shanghai Airport Transfer
Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) is the largest of the two airports serving Shanghai and is the city’s main international transportation hub. In fact, this airport saw over 32 million passengers through its doors in 2021 alone, making it one of the busiest transport hubs in East Asia. The airport is located just 30 km from the city centre of Shanghai, so a transfer in a Pudong airport taxi shouldn’t take longer than 45 minutes.
To begin your Shanghai airport transfer, your driver will head north and follow signs for the S1/Shanghai Urban Area. They will then take the A1 and follow this major road until it turns into A20. Then, your driver will tale the exit towards Jiyang Road, keeping right at the fork to follow this road for around 1 km. You will then get onto the North-South Elevated Road and will follow this for around 4.4 km, before taking the exit towards Waitan. Finally, you will take a right onto Yan’an East Road and a left onto Tibet Middle Road, which will lead you into the city centre.

Your fare will be determined by a taximeter based on the time taken and the distance travelled. The average rates are around €26 (CNY 185) during the day and €33 (CNY 240) at night (23:00 to 05:00), but these are subject to change significantly if you’re stuck in traffic.
If you’d prefer a set-rate fare you can rely on, we suggest pre-booking your Shanghai airport shuttle with Welcome Pickups.
