The coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak is the talk of the town at the moment and we’re all glued to our screens in order to hear or read about the latest developments.
It started in China in December 2019 and is currently affecting 42 countries. However, more than 80% of affected patients experience mild illness and recover. Only a very small percentage develop serious symptoms, mainly older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions. The advice from health experts and official organisations is to stay alert, but don’t panic.
How to stay protected
There are several steps we can take in order to protect ourselves from infection when travelling. Social distancing from people that show symptoms is one of the main protective measures we can all take. As a result, a private transfer remains the safest mode of transportation during this period.
Our priority at Welcome Pickups is your safety. This is why we have started a Prevention Initiative in order to protect both Travellers and Welcomer Drivers.
What we’re doing
Our Drivers at all destinations have been directed to participate in the following initiative, in accordance to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Guidelines:
- Always have hand sanitisers available in the car, both for themselves and for travellers.
- Wash their hands often with soap and water.
- Regularly wipe down surfaces in the car with a household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Stay informed about potential incidents in their country and inform Travellers about the latest developments and areas to avoid, if any.
- If they show any symptoms, stop working immediately in order to protect Travellers.
We have also made it easier to modify or cancel your bookings, in case your travel plans change. You now have the option to exchange your transfer with a fully flexible voucher. This can be used for any new booking, at any time and especially in any destination; it can also be used as a gift. To minimise your travelling disruption even further, we would like to offer you a 10% discount for all bookings made until the end of March, for trips taking place at any time in the future. Just add the coupon code MARCH10 to your checkout.
We are closely monitoring developments and taking all necessary measures, in order to continue offering the same level of service to our customers throughout all our destinations.
