Safety first: our new health actions
Safety and comfort are watchwords at Welcome Pickups. COVID-19 has turned the travel industry upside down over the last few months, but we are hard at work to offer the safest way to travel anywhere. This is important not only for our passengers, but also for our partners, drivers and teams.
We’re excited to be part of rebuilding traveller confidence, as borders start to reopen in parts of the world and people are cautiously taking their first trips abroad. Health precautions have been in place at Welcome Pickups since before the lockdown. Now, we’re strengthening them further, going beyond government regulations.
The Welcome Pickups Safety Protocol
We have introduced a 12-point safety protocol which includes:
- Car sanitisation before every ride
- 20-minute gap between transfers to allow enough time to clean and air the cabin
- Contactless ride: the driver won’t help you with luggage or open doors for you
- Protective gear for the driver worn at all times
- Sanitiser and disinfecting wipes available in every car for passenger use
- A separator between the passenger and driver (in the countries and regions where this allowed by law)
- Drivers log their temperature three times a day
We’ve also introduced a new custom metric, the Net Safety Score, which allows us to measure our performance on the safety front. After each ride, we ask passengers for feedback regarding the safety of their ride. The resulting score offers complete visibility into the success of our initiatives and points us to where there is room for improvement.
