Checking in at Quito Airport
Checking in at Quito Airport will depend on your airline. In some cases, you can check in online up to 24 hours before your departure. Quito Airport suggests that you arrive at least 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic flight. This will allow you enough time to get through security and customs before you depart.

Once you’ve dropped off your luggage and collected your boarding pass at check-in, follow the signs to “security”. The security screening point is normally quite efficient but it can be busy during certain times.
To make security checks more efficient, prepare your items for screening in or before you enter the queue. First, ensure that all liquids, gels, aerosols, and creams are in individual vessels no larger than 100ml each. Then, place all of your liquid items into a clear plastic bag no larger than 1-liter in volume. Next, remove your outerwear and any items that could set ff the metal detector, such as coats, jackets, belts, jewelry, watches, and electronics. You may be asked to remove any electronics from your hand luggage and place them on a tray for screening. All of your items should be placed into as many trays as you need before you walk through the metal detector.
After successfully clearing the security checkpoint, walk towards the international or domestic departures area, depending on your destination. To enter the International Quito Airport Departures Lounge, you’ll need to have your passport checked and stamped first. If you’re heading to the Domestic Departures Lounge, you can walk straight through.

Both the International and Domestic Departures at Quito Airport have plenty of facilities for the modern traveler. There is a great selection of restaurants including a large TGI Fridays that is open 24 hours a day. There are also plenty of shops and duty-free stores selling snacks, electronics, reading materials, and souvenirs for your flight.
