TFS Airport Live Departures
Checking in at Tenerife South Airport
The first step to transiting through Tenerife South Airport (TFS) is to check in. Depending on your airline and your chosen method for check-in, this could mean lining up to receive your printed boarding pass, simply dropping off your luggage or bypassing the check-in desks altogether.
But let’s assume you need to check in the old-fashioned way and drop your luggage. Where do you go?
Level 1 is the first port of call for Tenerife Airport Departures. This is the same level you likely arrived on when you walked into the terminal building.
Tip: Check the screens when you arrive. They’ll display the latest updates for Tenerife Airport departures today, as well as which check-in desk you need to go to. (Our live board above will show you Tenerife Airport departures for tomorrow as well.)
Once you know what check-in desk to go to, head there to drop off your luggage and collect your boarding pass if it’s not on your phone.
When to arrive at Tenerife Airport?
If you’re travelling domestically or to another Schengen country, 2 hours should give you plenty of time to get through security. For all other flights, aim to arrive 3 hours before your flight to get through Tenerife Airport departures smoothly.
What’s next?
After checking in and dropping off your luggage, you can head to the security checkpoint.
Be forewarned that Tenerife is a busy airport in high season, so security queues can be long. To make your transit more efficient, prepare your items for scanning before you reach the conveyor belts. Here’s what to do:
- Take off your outerwear – Outerwear includes watches, hats, scarves, sunglasses, jackets, coats, jewellery, etc.
- Take out your laptop and other electronics from your hand luggage – This makes it easier to scan.
- Remove your liquids bag from your hand luggage – You are permitted to carry one clear plastic bag of liquids, gels, creams or aerosols in individual 100 ml vessels. These must be non-toxic, non-flammable, flight-safe items.
Once you get to the front of the line, place your items into as many trays as you need. The security officer may also ask you to take off your shoes. If you are carrying liquid medication baby food or baby milk, notify a security officer for guidance.
When all of your items and hand luggage are on the security conveyor belt, walk under the metal detectors. You’ll reunite with your belongings on the other side.
Tip: Take your tray(s) off of the security belt and onto a nearby table/desk to repack your items. This prevents you from holding up the queue.
