London City Airport (LCY)

London City Airport is an international airport in the heart of London, located in the Royal Docks approximately 10 km away from the City of London and 5 km from Canary Wharf. Although it is the smallest of the five airports serving London – Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton – it welcomed over 3 million passengers in 2023 and acts as a hub for popular airlines such as British Airways.

London City Airport is accessible, with ramps and lifts wherever necessary, accessible toilets and changing rooms, dedicated parking spaces, and reserved seating areas. The airport also offers comprehensive special assistance for people with reduced mobility or hidden disabilities to ensure a comfortable experience. The assistance service includes assistance with accessing transport and car parks, as well as help with check-in, security screening, boarding, baggage collection, customs, immigration, and connecting flights. 

 

To book special assistance, you must inform your airline or tour operator at the time of booking or up to 48 hours before you’re due to take off. Alternatively, assistance can be arranged upon arrival at the airport by visiting the Information Desk inside the terminal entrance. Just keep in mind that you may end up waiting a while as those who book in advance get priority.

Terminal Information

The smallest of London’s airports, there is only one terminal at London City Airport. The building has two floors, with the ground floor dedicated to check-in and arrivals. Alternatively, the first floor houses the main departure lounge and boarding gates. Gates 2B to 14 are located on the West Pier whilst gates 21-24 are on the East Pier.

 

The terminal is well-equipped with seating areas, charging stations, currency exchange and cash services, accessible toilets, baby changing rooms, and information points. You’ll also find a small selection of cafes, bars and restaurants in the departures lounge, as well as a few shops.
