Checking in at Riga Airport
The Riga Airport Departures area is divided into two zones: Sector B for Schengen flights and Sector C for non-Schengen flights. Passengers can check-in on arrival at their airline’s designated counter or use one of the self-serve kiosks in the Departures Hall. For online and self-check in, a Baggage Drop lane is available for checked luggage.

Check-in counters for all passengers are located on Level 2. The boarding area for Riga International Airport departures flying to a destination outside the Schengen Zone is located in Sector C.

What’s next?
Once you’ve checked in, dropped off any luggage, and collected or downloaded your boarding pass, head to the Security gates at the far end of the terminal building. Each passenger will need to remove their jacket, belt, hat – and possibly shoes – as well as any items from their pockets before placing them in one of the trays provided. Laptops, cameras, and other large electronics should also be placed separately into a tray.
Lastly, any liquids, gels, creams or aerosols will need to be placed in a sealed, transparent bag. Each container should be no more than 100 mL or you risk it being confiscated. To avoid this from happening, we suggest pre-packing your items at home.
Since all departures from Riga Airport need to pass through Security, there can be lengthy wait times of up to 20 minutes, particularly during summer and holiday periods. If you don’t wish to stand in line, you can purchase a RIX Fast Track coupon for €10 which grants you access to a priority queue.
*There is a passport control area for Riga International Airport Departures located near the C gates. Passengers bound for non-Schengen countries will need to pass through here as a final step.
