Riga International Airport (RIX)

Located within Latvia’s capital city, Riga Airport is the only commercial airport in the country, and it is also the largest and busiest airport across all the Baltic nations. More than 7 million passengers pass through here each year, traveling to and from 80 winter destinations, and 100 summer destinations.

The airport’s 60,000 annual flights are operated by 11 European carriers, including the Latvian flagship carrier airBaltic, budget airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air, and long-haul carriers such as British Airways and Lufthansa. Since there isn’t a domestic flight network in Latvia, only international flights are available.

Special Assistance

Special Assistance

The airport in Riga Airport is well equipped to help passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) transfer between the aircraft and their transport on the ground. Aside from lifts, ramps, and accessible toilets that are located throughout the terminal, the airport also employs a specialist PRM Assistance Team.

The team is responsible for providing wheelchairs and other mobility aids to assist passengers as needed, as well as accompanying them through check-in and arrival processes.

If you prefer or need to travel with your own wheelchair, it’s important to let your airline know at least 48 hours in advance so that the necessary arrangements can be made. Otherwise, make yourself known on arrival to staff at the Information Counter in the Check-in Hall, or use the special call points in car park P1 (on Level 1) and car park P3.
