Arriving at Bogota Airport

The first step for International arrivals at Bogota Airport is to clear Immigration. Citizens of most countries are exempt from having to apply for a visa for travel and can stay for up to 90 days. In all other cases, you’ll need to apply for a Visitor Visa (type V) and present this to the airline staff at your departure point. A passport with at least 6 months’ validity is also required.

Next, you’ll need to collect your luggage. The directions to the Baggage Claim area are well-signposted, and there are screens above each conveyor belt to help you find the one servicing your flight.

The National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) oversees all Customs procedures at Bogota Airport. Certain items are prohibited from entering Colombia or are limited to certain quantities; for instance, foods and medicinal plants. Before traveling, be sure to familiarize yourself with this list and complete a Form 530 if necessary.

*Domestic passengers will skip the Immigration step and head straight to Baggage Claim.
