Arriving at Catania Airport

After landing at the airport in Catania, arrivals will either need to pass through Immigration or proceed directly to Baggage Claim. Since Italy is part of the Schengen Zone, international passengers arriving from a country not included in this area will need to present their passport, proof that they won’t be staying beyond 90 days, and a visa – if necessary.

Many countries can travel visa-free within the Schengen Zone for up to 90 days within a rolling 180-day period. However, from 2025 onwards, passengers from more than 50 non-European countries will need to apply for an ETIAS visa waiver authorization form which is valid for three years. All other passengers will need to present a valid visa in its place.

If you’ve arrived from a destination within Italy or the Schengen Zone, you may be requested to present your passport or an accepted form of ID, but otherwise, you can simply collect your luggage from the corresponding conveyor belt and exit into the Arrivals Hall via Customs. Remember, use the Green lane if you have nothing to declare, and the Red lane if you are bringing in listed items.
