How to Get from Catania Airport to Taormina

Choosing the train from Catania Airport to Taormina is another great value-for-money option if you’re traveling on a budget. Trenitalia has an extended network throughout Italy and connects Catania Airport-Fontanarossa Station, around 1 km northwest of Catania Airport, to Taormina-Giardini Station, around 3 km south of Taormina Centro. You can reach the airport train station on foot or by taking the AMTS shuttle, which runs every 10 minutes.

Although different types of trains stop at Catania Airport-Fontanarossa, the best option is to take a regional train, as it’s cheaper and runs more frequently. From Taormina-Giardini Station, you can continue to your accommodation by bus or by taxi, as continuing on foot can be challenging.
