CFU Airport Live Departures

Checking in at Corfu Airport

With over 3 million passengers a year, needless to say Corfu Airport departures can be busy, especially in summer. The fifth busiest airport in Greece, its single terminal, expanded in 2021, handles all domestic, European and international flights from and to the island.

Departures from Corfu Airport take place on Level 1, while check-in procedures are done on the Ground Floor. Check-in counters open 2 hours before departure, and there are no self-check-in kiosks or self-service baggage drop-offs. As the airport can be very busy, online check-in is the best way to save time. Most airlines open online check-in 24 hours before departure.

Passengers who are not EU residents can claim tax back on goods purchased in Greece. If you wish to do so, you must go through Customs before dropping off your bag unless the items are in your hand luggage. Allow extra time, as the process can be lengthy.

When to arrive at Corfu Airport?

For departures from Corfu Airport, it is advised to arrive at least 2 hours before departure for domestic and Schengen flights and 3 hours for international destinations. During peak season, waiting times increase at baggage drop-offs and security checks. If you’re travelling during this time, factoring in extra time is a good thing to avoid stress.

What’s next?

After checking in, follow the signs to the security checks, which are also on the Ground Floor. Your hand luggage will be screened, and you will be asked to put all your electronic devices, keys, hats and any other items you carry into trays.

Remember that you can only bring up to 100 ml of liquids in a crystal clear bag on board. This bag must also be placed in a tray. To speed up checks, have your boarding pass and identity document ready.

Security checks and passport control can take time for Corfu Airport departures, depending on the day, time, and season. Understandably, there are larger queues from June to September and in the morning when low-cost or charter flights depart. In general, allow at least 1 hour in peak season and 30 minutes if not. *Some airlines, such as Sky Express, offer a fast-track service. Check if the airline you’re flying with does, too, as the service could come in handy if you’d rather not queue in line for too long.

What to do in Departures at Corfu Airport?

While the terminal is relatively small, Corfu Airport departures have shops and restaurants where passengers can have a bite or a drink before boarding. A duty-free shop opens 24/7 and provides a selection of Greek products, perfumes and spirits. Essential services such as ATMs and currency exchange are also available, and Cordu Airport offers free Wi-Fi throughout its terminal.

For a quieter experience, passengers can access the ‘Goldair Handling Lounge’ on Level 1, in the extra Schengen area. While prior booking is recommended, access can also be purchased at the door.
