Getting a taxi in Corfu

There are hundreds of taxis buzzing around the beautiful island day and night, so catching a taxi in Corfu couldn’t be easier. Although the taxis don’t have a uniform color, most are dark blue and they usually have a large ‘TAXI’ sign on top of the vehicle and the company name and logo on the side. Corfu taxi prices are calculated using a meter, all taxis must have a taximeter fitted by law.

You can easily hail a taxi in Corfu in the street, walk to a taxi rank, call a Corfu taxi number, use a ride-sharing app, or pre-book important rides, such as your Corfu Airport taxi, in advance to secure an on-time pickup.

With so many different Corfu taxi services operating throughout the island, it’s important to look for licensed vehicles only. There should always be a taximeter on the dashboard, a rate sheet visible in the window, and the driver’s ID clearly shown at all times.

What's the cost of a taxi in Corfu?

All Corfu taxi prices are regulated, put in place and monitored by the government. All licensed taxis in Corfu have a card on their windscreen showing the latest rates. Your journey will be calculated using a taximeter based on the distance traveled, so the longer your journey, the more it will cost. The taxi in Corfu prices will be calculated as follows:

Base fare: €3.60

Price per km: €1.10

For example, taking a taxi from Corfu Airport to the city will take approximately 10 minutes and will cost €15 on average. On the other hand, the 60-minute journey to the beautiful beach town of Kavos will cost around €90.

There’s no change in price for traveling at night, but there are extra charges for things such as luggage and passengers over the 4th. How to get a taxi in Corfu

Getting a taxi in Corfu couldn’t be easier. You can choose to hail one from the street, walk to a taxi rank near you, call a radio taxi company, or use a Corfu taxi app. If you choose to hail a taxi from the street, just make sure that the rate card is displayed on the front dash as this is mandatory for all official Corfu taxis.

If you’d prefer to walk to a taxi rank and wait for your cab there, you can find them in Corfu Town at the central square at the Spianadha end of Liston, at the new and old port, at Platia Saroko and Corfu Airport. Keep in mind that there may be a queue for taxis at the official ranks.

How to get a taxi from Corfu Airport

There are two terminal buildings at Corfu Airport: Terminal A and Terminal B. However, there is only one Corfu Airport taxi rank located opposite Terminal A, which is open 24/7. To access the taxi rank from Terminal B, you will need to walk around 10 minutes to the Arrivals Hall of Terminal A or wait for the free shuttle, which leaves from the Ground Level of Terminal B. Taxis from this rank use meters to calculate the cost of your journey. You can expect to pay an average of €15 for the 10-minute taxi ride from Corfu Airport to Corfu Town.

How to get a taxi from Corfu Port

After disembarking your ferry and walking along the dock, you will enter the main port building. After passing through this building, you will see the Port Car Rental to your left and the taxi rank to your right. This rank is open 24 hours a day, though services will be limited during nighttime hours.

How to get a taxi from Corfu Town

Aside from hailing a taxi in the street, you can take a stroll to the Spianadha Square and get a taxi from the rank here. This rank is located on the edge of the square and is open 24 hours a day. However, during the winter months, it may be hard to find a taxi from this rank, as there’s very little demand from tourists. All taxis from this rank use matters to calculate the cost of your journey.

Using a Corfu taxi app

If you’re looking for a convenient way to request a taxi, using a taxi app in Corfu is a great option. You can ask for a ride in just a few clicks, from the comfort of your own phone. There are only two legitimate taxi apps in Corfu: Aegean Taxi and Uber. However, Uber doesn’t function as it may in other countries. When you request a car on Uber in Corfu, you will receive a professional local driver from one of the companies, not a private car.

As there are only two taxi apps in Corfu, there can be long wait times and price spikes during popular travel times. To avoid this, you can always pre-book your Corfu taxi services with a private company such as Welcome Pickups and enjoy a fixed fare with no hidden costs or price spikes.

Calling a Corfu taxi number

An alternative to the mobile apps is to call a phone dispatch taxi in Corfu. Many companies offer over-the-phone booking, but these are the top-rated numbers to call for a taxi service in Corfu:

Corfu 24-Hour Taxi Service – +30 6976 43 8669

Palaiokastritsa Taxi Services: +30 693 876 4765

South Corfu Vip Taxi Kavos: +30 694 206 3511

As not all phone dispatch operators speak English, it’s advisable to ask your hotel or restaurant to call a number and request a taxi on your behalf.
