Checking in at Denver Airport

Passengers flying out of Denver Airport (DEN) can choose from more than 200 destinations for their next holiday or business venture. Denver Airport Departures features airline counters on both the East and West sides of the terminal, making checking in a breeze. To find the counter for your flight, refer to the monitors as you enter the terminal, or you can use our above flight tracker, which lists all of the Denver Airport departures for today.

If you’re traveling lightly, you might prefer to use the self-service kiosks where you can print your own boarding pass. If you’ve arrived by public transport and have no bags to check in, you can also use one of six self-service kiosks in the Denver Transit Center to save even more time.

Alternatively, you can check in online up to 48 hours in advance, depending on your airline. Remember that you will still need to approach the ticket counter if you have bags to check in.

When to arrive at Denver Airport?

It’s recommended that all Denver International Airport departures arrive at least 2 hours ahead of their scheduled flight to allow enough time to complete check-in and security procedures. However, if you’re traveling during busy holiday periods, we recommend allowing up to 3 hours as queues are generally longer than normal.

What’s next?

The next step on your journey through Denver Airport is to clear Security. Denver Airport offers several options to help expedite your journey through Security and Immigration so that you can spend more time relaxing and exploring each departure concourse.

US passengers can choose to sign up for CLEAR prior to traveling, as well as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) PreCheck. These can be used separately, or in conjunction for an even faster experience, and allow you to skip several screening procedures, such as removing your liquids from your hand luggage. It’s also possible to sign up for TSA PreCheck at the enrollment center on the East side, Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal.

Departures from Denver Airport can use one of two Security checkpoints; the one in the South (Level 5) is primarily used for regular passengers, whereas the West Security (Level 6) is perfect for those with TSA precheck. It’s important to note that the West option is only open between 04:00 and 19:30.

For regular passengers, you’ll be expected to remove all liquids from your carry-on luggage and place them in a clear, resealable plastic bag under 1 liter. Each container needs to be 100 mL or less, otherwise, it should be packed in your checked luggage or left at home.

Laptops, belts, jackets, hats, and any metal objects such as keys and coins will also need to be placed separately in a screening tub, alongside your shoes. Since wait times for Security can exceed 30 minutes, it’s a good idea to take advantage of Denver Airport’s free DEN Reserve system, where passengers can make a reservation in an express line between 05:00 and 17:00 daily.

Once you’ve cleared Security and Immigration, you can take the train to your designated concourse, from where it can take a further 15 minutes to walk to your gate.
