Dubai Al Maktoum Airport (DWC) opened its doors to passengers in 2013 and is currently under construction for one of the biggest airport expansions the world has ever seen. At the moment, the airport operates with one terminal, serving mostly low-cost carrier airlines, and is operating as a support for Dubai International Airport.

Arriving at Al Maktoum Airport

Once you have disembarked the plane, you will begin to see signs for “Passport Control” and “Arrivals”. Follow these signs to the Passport Control area, where you will see three different queues: Nationals, EU Citizens and Foreign Visitors. Choose the queue that applies to you and then present the border control agent with your passport and any necessary documentation. Proof of return flight may be needed for foreign visitors. 

*DWC Airport arrivals utilizes Smart Gates for expedited processing. UAE and GCC nationals, UAE residents, and visa-on-arrival guests with biometric passports can use these gates.

Once you’re through passport control, you can move on to the baggage claim area. Here, you will see big screens showing which carousel your flight will be using to present your luggage. If you’re only traveling with carry-on luggage, you can bypass this step and head straight through to customs. 

After stepping through the customs barriers, you will walk out into arrivals at Al Maktoum Airport, where you can take a taxi, find public transport, or meet your ride for a pickup.

Dubai Al Maktoum Airport Transport

Al Maktoum Airport (DWC) is connected to the city center of Dubai by the RTA public transport network. You can take the F55 bus to the Ibn Battuta Metro Station, then take the Green or Red Line metro to Dubai. The total journey time to central Dubai using public transport is around 60 minutes.

Alternatively, Dubai Al Maktoum Airport arrivals has a taxi rank that operates 24 hours a day and will take you directly to your hotel in Dubai in about 40 minutes.

There is no pickup or drop off parking at DWC. Instead, you can park in one of the 2,500 shaded parking spaces, located just steps from Al Maktoum Airport arrivals. Parking is currently free for all passengers and visitors, with no time limit.
