New York Airport (JFK) is one of the most famous airports in the world. Over 30 million passengers pass through it every year.
Before we dive into the details, where is JFK Airport? In short, it’s located in the Queens district of New York City. This central location makes it a convenient transportation hub for the millions of travellers who head to the Big Apple every year.
Because of how busy New York JFK International Airport is, five terminals handle the flights of over 70 airlines, including Delta Air Lines, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa, TAP Air Portugal, and Air Canada.
Note: Today we’re talking about New York’s main airport – John F. Kennedy Airport. If you want to know more about the other airports in New York, check out our LaGuardia Airport Guide and Newark Airport Guide.

- Pet/Service Animal Relief Area (SARA) for service animals
If you require any of these services, it’s best to notify your airline within 72 hours of your arrival to ensure that your needs are taken care of.
For those with hidden disabilities, New York JFK Airport participates in the Sunflower Lanyard programme. This is an international programme that helps those with autism, PTSD, anxiety, hearing loss, and other hidden disabilities navigate airports with a little more ease.
