Palermo International Airport is one of six airports located on the island of Sicily in Italy. Following Catania International Airport, Palermo Airport is the second largest in Sicily, and with more than 8 million passengers a year, the 6th busiest in the country.

More than 30 airlines use the airport as a hub, including home-grown carriers ITA Airways and Air Dolomiti, plus major carriers such as Air France, British Airways, and Brussels Airlines.

Palermo Airport terminal has several initiatives in place to assist passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) and those with a hearing, mental, or visual disability. Elevators, accessible toilets, and ramps are in place throughout the terminal, as well as a Special Assistance Lounge.

 

There are call points/intercom stations located outside the terminal near the drop-off area and designated disabled parking spaces where you can connect with a member of staff to come assist you. Once inside, a Special Security Track can be used to avoid having to wait in line at Security Clearance.

 

If you require a wheelchair or need to be accompanied to your aircraft or the Special Assistance Lounge, you should notify your airline 48 hours in advance so that arrangements can be made in advance. Guide dogs can also travel in the cabin at no extra charge.

Terminal Information

Palermo Airport is comprised of one main terminal divided into four levels including a train station on the Basement Level. Passengers arriving to and from destinations within Italy, the Schengen Zone, and overseas share an Arrivals Hall on the Ground Floor, a Check-In Hall on the First Floor, and a Departures Hall on Level 2. 

 

*Check-in desks 27 to 36 are the exception as they are located on the Ground Floor near the counters selling car hire from Palermo Airport.
