Dubai Airport (DXB) has three large and modern terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. The airport serves an average of 86.9 million passengers per year, making it the busiest airport in the world. If you have a connecting flight, you can take the free shuttle train between terminals. All three terminals offer international and domestic flights and are very spaced out, so it’s important to know which terminal you or your loved one will be landing in. Arriving at Dubai Airport
After you have exited the plane, you will start to see signs for ‘Passport Control’, follow these signs through the hallways and you will soon step into a large hall for Dubai Airport Passport Control. There are different lines for EU Citizens, nationals and foreign visitors, so be sure to choose the correct line. The border control staff will ask to see your passport and any necessary documents at this point, so be sure to have those on hand. If you are registered for Smart Gates, you can bypass these queues and use the contactless scanners to pass through Passport Control in seconds.
Once you are through Passport Control, you will then enter the baggage claim area. If you’re travelling with carry-on luggage only, you can walk straight through customs at this point. If you checked any luggage, you will need to use the screens to find the carousel that your flight will be using. After collecting your baggage, you can head through customs and out into Arrivals at Dubai Airport.
Dubai International Airport Transport
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is extremely well connected to all the major attractions, business districts and hotels in Dubai city centre. The Red Line metro will get you to the city centre in 24 minutes, while the public RTA buses will take closer to 30 minutes to reach the city. There are also taxi ranks outside of each terminal at Dubai Airport that run 24/7. You can take a local taxi to your hotel or pre-book a private transfer to enjoy a more personalised, comfortable and seamless journey.
*The Dubai Airport Metro station is located in Terminal 1. If you land in Terminal 2 or 3, you will need to take the shuttle train to Terminal 1.
