Arriving at Melbourne Airport

Once you disembark your plane at Tullamarine Airport, the first stop depends on where you’re travelling from. There aren’t passport control desks for Terminals 1, 3 and 4 because they handle domestic flights. Terminal 2 has a passport control and immigration centre to check everyone’s travel documents.

From there, you can head to baggage reclaim. The baggage belts are labelled with your flight number. Ensure you’re at the correct belt so you can find your luggage efficiently. The final step before reaching the Melbourne Tullamarine Airport Arrivals Hall is to go through customs. You can find the latest customs regulations on the Australian Border Force website.

Melbourne Airport Transport

Now you’ve reached the Melbourne Airport Arrivals Hall, how do you leave? Fortunately, Melbourne Airport has a reliable bus link directly to Melbourne city centre. The SkyBus departs every 10 minutes from outside of Terminals 1, 2 and 3. It runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you’d prefer a more efficient and convenient option, we recommend booking a Melbourne Airport taxi. While local taxis are readily available at the taxi stands outside of the terminal building, a private transfer guarantees zero wait time and a reasonable fixed price to wherever you want to go. By booking a private airport taxi with Welcome Pickups, you’ll also be offered a complimentary mini tour of the city from a friendly driver in a modern vehicle.

What to do in Arrivals at Melbourne Airport?

Whether you’re arriving at Melbourne International Airport or picking someone up, there are many amenities you can use. As for shops, WHSmith is the flagship shop that is in each of the terminals. There you can find a selection of snacks, bottled drinks, magazines, power adapters, small toiletries and more.

Melbourne Airport Arrivals Parking

If you’re collecting someone from Melbourne Airport, there is a pick-up area directly in front of the terminal building. It’s within walking distance of Terminals 1, 2 and 3. You can park there for free for up to 15 minutes.

The pick-up area for Terminal 4 is located within the T4 car park on the ground floor. The same free 15-minute rule applies.

Need longer than 15 minutes? No problem! You can use any of the car parks for short-term parking. Premium parking is also available on the upper floors of each of the terminal car parks. You can learn more about parking in our full Melbourne Airport Guide.
