Kansai International Airport (KIX) is Osaka’s primary airport, handling all international flights. It is built on an artificial island, Kankūjima, in the middle of Osaka Bay off the Honshu shore. It opened in 1994 and consists of two passenger terminals, with Terminal 1 holding the record for the world’s longest terminal with a length of 1.7 km.
Osaka Airport is one of the busiest airports in Japan, handling over 30 million passengers annually. It serves as an international hub for All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, and Nippon Cargo Airlines and as a hub for Peach, the first international low-cost carrier in Japan.

Osaka Airport Terminals
Osaka Airport consists of two separate passenger terminals. Terminal 1 is much bigger and handles the majority of international and domestic flights from major airlines. Terminal 2 is smaller and only handles flights from Peach, Jeju Air, and Spring Airlines, the three low-cost carriers operating flights from and to Osaka Airport. The two terminals aren’t interconnected, but there is a free shuttle bus connecting Terminal 1 Building, Kansai Airport Station, Aeroplaza, and Terminal 2 Building. A detailed Osaka Airport map is available on the airport’s official website to help you navigate the two terminals.
South of Terminal 1, you will also find the famous Sky Observation Hall, offering a 360° panoramic view of the runway and passenger terminal building, and the Sky Museum. There is also a kids’ corner and an outdoor play area for small children.
