Budapest Airport – Live Departures
Budapest Airport Check-in
Passengers have several options when checking in for their Budapest Airport departure. Many airlines that serve the airport offer online check-in 24 hours before the flight departure time. Additionally, you can choose to check in at one of the airline kiosks in the departure terminal, some of which are controlled by an agent while others are self-service.
The check-in desk for your designated flight will be labeled with your airline’s name and feature a number for the check-in zone. When you enter the departure area in Terminal 2A or 2B, you can check the board to see which desk you must check in at. Alternatively, you can view our Live Budapest Airport Departures board above.
Terminal 2A Departures
Check-in is located on the departure floor of Terminal 2A for passengers flying with Air France, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, SWISS, and Turkish Airlines.
Terminal 2B Departures
Check-in is located on the departure floor of Terminal 2B for passengers flying with Emirates, Qatar Airways, ELAL, and Wizz Air.
NOTE: Airline assignments between Terminal 2A and 2B aren’t set in stone and can change. To avoid surprises, it’s best to double-check your terminal on the airport’s website or directly with your airline before heading to Budapest Airport.
When to arrive at Budapest Airport?
The recommended time to arrive at Budapest Ferihegy Airport departures before a flight is two hours, as stated on the airport’s website. Those traveling without any check-in luggage can come a little later, but the queue for security can be unpredictable, so it’s best to give yourself as much time as possible.
Next steps after check-in
Depending on your destination, you may or may not need to go through passport inspection after check-in. Those traveling to a country in the Schengen Zone won’t have to show their passport to a border agent since they’re staying within the zone. However, if you’re traveling to a country outside the Schengen Zone, you must provide your document to an agent and any additional documents necessary, for Budapest Airport departures.
After passport control, you’ll have to go through security clearance. Regardless of where you’re traveling to, all passengers must do this to ensure nobody carries any forbidden items, e.g., firearms, knives, etc. You’ll have to remove all liquids (which must be under 100 ml) from your bag and walk through the security scanner. Laptops and electronics can stay in your bag, you no longer need to remove them and place them in a separate tray.
Normally, passengers can clear security within 10 minutes, but it varies based on the time of day, the number of flights departing and how many passengers are queuing at the same time. Once you’ve gone through, you can continue to your gate or enjoy the amenities in Departures.
Anyone who’s late for their flight or doesn’t want to wait in line can get a fast-track pass for departures at Budapest Airport. The Fast Track Lane is available for a fee of €6.75 (HUF 2,700) and can be purchased at kiosks in the departure halls of Terminals 2A and 2B or online.
