Arriving at Cabo San Lucas Airport

When landing at SJD Airport arrivals on a domestic flight, you simply need to make your way into the Baggage Claim area, find your flight’s corresponding conveyor belt, collect your luggage, and exit into the Arrivals Hall.

The process for SJD international arrivals is slightly different as they will first need to clear Passport Control. Mexico allows 63 countries to visit without a visa for up to 180 days so long it is for tourism purposes. In all other cases, you will need to apply for a visa at your nearest Mexican Embassy before you travel.

If you are a citizen from one of the visa-exempt countries and you have a passport with an integrated chip, you can use the e-gates on arrival, making the immigration process very smooth. Otherwise, you will need to wait in line for an Immigration officer.

Once you have collected any luggage from the Baggage Claim area, you can exit into the Arrivals Hall via Customs. The airport sometimes uses sniffer dogs to find prohibited items so be sure to declare anything that you are unsure of. Also be mindful that if the red light flashes while you are in the queue, you will be directed to a Customs officer to be searched.

*Note that SJD arrivals are not required to fill out a Multiple Migratory Form (FMM) but a Customs form will need to be completed on arrival.

Cabo San Lucas Airport Transport

The public bus departs from outside Terminal 1, you can book a seat on a private shuttle bus, or you can take a Cabo San Lucas Airport taxi from outside either terminal. Similarly, a Los Cabos Airport transfer can be pre-arranged with a company like Welcome.

Cabo San Lucas Airport Arrivals Parking

Since there isn’t a designated SJD Airport arrival pick-up zone located at the curbside of the terminal, the best place to park is in the paid car park across the road. Otherwise, you can ask your friends or family to take the elevator up one level to the Departures Hall where there is a free drop-off/pick-up zone located in front of the exit.
