Useful Tips

You must purchase your ticket in the airport before walking to the taxi rank.
Not all taxi drivers speak English, so be sure to write down your hotel's address to avoid any miscommunication.
Tipping taxi drivers is not expected in Mexico. However, if you liked the service, you can always round up the fare to show your appreciation.

How to get from Cabo Airport to San José del Cabo by bus

Ruta del Desierto provides public bus services from Cabo Airport to San José Del Cabo Downtown, the Tourist Corridor and Cabo San Lucas. The buses are easy to spot as they are purple and yellow. They run daily but do make a lot of stops at each hotel along the way, so it can take at least 20-40 minutes to reach the city.

The Ruta del Desierto bus only leaves from Terminal 1. If you land in Terminal 2, you will need to make the 10-minute walk to Terminal 1 to catch the bus to San José del Cabo.

Although the bus is a great option for those trying to travel on a budget, it’s not the most convenient way to get from Los Cabos Airport to San José del Cabo. It makes a lot of stops along the way and is definitely the slowest transport option. Plus, it will drop you off on the highway, so you will need to walk from there to your hotel reception, which can be a long and hot walk.

If you're travelling with young children and a lot of luggage, making the walk from the highway to your hotel will be a challenge. In this instance, I suggest booking a much more convenient and safe private transfer.

The buses only leave from Terminal 1, you will need to walk there from Terminal 2 if that's where you land.
Buses fill quickly, so be sure to arrive at least 5 minutes before it departs.
Theres very little storage space on the bus.
