Taking a private taxi is the most convenient airport transfer to San José del Cabo. You will make it to the door of your hotel in just 15 minutes and won’t need to wait in the hot sun or drag your heavy luggage through the local bus stations or along the highway to your hotel.

How to get from Cabo airport to San José del Cabo by bus

There’s a bus company called Ruta del Desierto that provide a public San José del Cabo shuttle from the airport. They run daily but do make a lot of stops at each hotel along the way, so it can take at least 50 minutes to reach the city.

Where do I find the bus from Cabo San José airport?

The Ruta del Desierto bus only leaves from Terminal 1. If you land in Terminal 2, you will need to make the 10-minute walk to Terminal 1 to catch the bus to San José del Cabo.

Although the bus is a great option for those trying to travel on a budget, it’s not the most convenient way to get from Cabo airport to San José del Cabo. It makes a lot of stops along the way, making it very slow, and it will drop you off on the highway, so you will need to walk from there to your hotel reception, which can be a long and hot walk.

If you're travelling with young children and a lot of luggage, making the walk from the highway to your hotel will be a challenge. In this instance, I suggest booking a much more convenient and safe taxi transfer.

The buses only leave from Terminal 1, you will need to walk there from Terminal 2 if that's where you land.
Buses fill quickly, so be sure to arrive at least 5 minutes before it departs.
Theres very little storage space on the bus.
