Arriving at Florence Airport
You’ll fly over the peaceful rolling hills of Florence before touching down at Florence Airport. Once you disembark the plane, you’ll be shuttled to the terminal building and guided to passport control.
This step depends on where you’re flying from. If you are flying from another Schengen member state, you won’t have to go through passport control (regardless of what passport you’re carrying).
However, if you’re travelling from a non-Schengen country, you’ll need to go to the e-gates or manned passport desks.
After passport control, head to baggage reclaim to collect your luggage. The conveyor belts will be labelled by flight rather than by airline, so pay attention to the screens to locate the correct one.
Now that you have your luggage, it’s time to go through customs. There are two lanes – “goods to declare” and “nothing to declare”.
Got something to declare? Wait in the appropriate area to speak to a customs officer. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green lane to the Arrivals Hall.
Florence Airport Transport
Florence Airport is well-connected with both private and public transportation options.
The most convenient way to travel is via airport taxi. Local taxis line up outside of the Arrivals Hall and are readily available 24/7. For a more personalised experience, you book your private airport taxi from Welcome Pickups.
Alternatively, the two public transport options are bus and tram. The tram line stops a short walk away from the terminal building and will take you straight to the city centre in around 20 minutes.
As for buses, there are a number of services going to different locations. There is a shuttle bus every 30 minutes to central Florence and the train station. You can also take a direct bus to Pisa which takes around 1 hour.
What to do in Arrivals at Florence Airport?
As Florence Airport is quite small, there aren’t many facilities in the Arrivals Hall.
That said, you have everything you need for a comfortable arrival, including accessible bathrooms, baby changing facilities, charging points, free wifi, seating, public transport ticket booths, car rental kiosks, and currency exchange.
There aren’t many Florence Airport Arrivals shops but there is a Hudson, which sells a selection of magazines, books, snacks and drinks.
If you want some Florence Airport Arrivals food, the Bricole restaurant serves freshly made snacks, sandwiches, pizzas, and local main dishes.
Florence Airport Arrivals Parking
If you’re collecting someone from Florence Airport, you’re in luck. Parking in the short-term car park is super convenient as it’s just 200 metres from the terminal building. The first 10 minutes are free. After that, it costs €6 per hour of parking.
The long-term car park is 500 metres away from the terminal building and has a slightly cheaper hourly rate of €4 per hour. However, the short-term car park is much more convenient as it’s a short walk from the Florence Airport Arrivals Hall.
