When to arrive at LaGuardia Airport?
LGA Airport departures should arrive 2 hours before their flight. As all flights from LaGuardia Airport are domestic, you don’t have any immigration control to go through. However, it’s a very busy airport so security can be lengthy. Fortunately, you can find live security delay times on the website.
What’s next?
Once you’ve checked in at your airline’s check-in desk, it’s time to go through security.
Keep your boarding pass handy to scan as you enter the security checkpoint. Then remove your outerwear items and place them into a tray. This includes coats, belts, hats, watches, etc. Your shoes and any electronics (like a laptop or mobile phone) can go into the same tray.
As for liquids, you can have a quart-sized resealable transparent bag full of liquids in 100ml vessels. This liquids bag must be removed from your hand luggage and placed in a tray. Your hand luggage can then go in a separate tray and onto the conveyor belt for inspection.
Learn more about what you can and can’t bring through security on the TSA website.
Want a faster journey through security? You have two options. The first option is to apply for TSA Pre-check. This is a travel scheme that enables low-risk passengers to go through a faster security lane at the airport. However, it takes some time to set up. You first need to apply online and then visit an enrollment centre in person to complete the rest of your application. If accepted, you’ll receive a TSA Pre-check number that you can use at relevant US airports. This process costs around $70-90, and you can renew it every year. The second option is to purchase a fast-track pass from LGA Airport B-Fast. This pass is only accepted in Terminal B.
