Arriving at Sydney Airport
Your experience arriving at Sydney International Airport depends on which terminal you’re arriving at.
For international travellers, you’ll disembark the plane at Terminal 1 and follow the signs to “Passport Control”. To make your transit through passport control go smoother, make sure you have your travel documents on hand, ready to inspect. This includes your visa and passport open on the right page.
After going through passport control, you can head to the baggage reclaim to collect your luggage. Then you can go to customs to declare any necessary items.
Note: If you have a connecting flight, you may need to transfer to one of the other terminals. You can do so with the free terminal transfer bus.
For domestic travellers, going through arrivals at Sydney Airport is much faster and simpler. No passport control. Instead, you can head straight to the baggage reclaim conveyor belts to collect your items. The Arrivals Halls in both Terminals 2 and 3 are close to baggage reclaim, so getting through arrivals is fast.
Sydney Airport Transport
Taking an airport taxi is the most popular and convenient way to get to your destination. There are plenty of taxis waiting outside of each of the terminals. There’s even a designated taxi stand for those requiring special assistance.
If you’d rather skip the wait but still want the convenience and comfort of a private vehicle, you can book a private airport taxi from Welcome Pickups.
The train is the next best option if you’re travelling light. You can access the train line from Arrivals Hall A of Terminal 1 or the arrivals level of Terminals 2 and 3. You can purchase train tickets from WHSmith or use your contactless card onboard.
There is also a wide selection of rental car companies available including Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Thrift, and others. You can find each kiosk in the Arrival Halls. Then, there is a free shuttle to take you to your rental car after you’ve booked.

What awaits you at Arrivals at Sydney Airport, again, depends on the terminal.
All three of them have the basic facilities you need to freshen up after your flight. That includes toilets, baby change facilities, adult change facilities, animal relief areas, seating, free WiFi and outdoor smoking areas.
At Terminal 1, international arrivals can look forward to cafés like Veloce Espresso and shops like WHSmith. Smarte Carte provides baggage storage services. You can also access the Sydney Airport Aerotel from the Arrivals Hall.
Terminal 2 is the second largest terminal but most of the eateries are on the departures side. However, there is an Inbound Café near baggage reclaim.
As for the Qantas terminal, Terminal 3, there is a newsagent and a Bear and The Beard Café for quick refreshments.
Sydney Airport Arrivals Parking
There are five main car parks at Sydney Airport. Sydney Airport International Arrivals pick-up is located in car park P7, outside of Terminal 1. You can park for free for up to 15 minutes.
On the domestic side, P3 is reserved for express pick-ups.
