Arriving at Tahiti Airport

Although Tahiti is a French territory, it is not part of the Schengen Zone, which means different immigration regulations may apply. That being said, most countries can enter Tahiti without a visa for up to 90 days, including all countries in the European Union.

Upon landing, international arrivals at Tahiti Airport will need to follow the signs towards “Immigration” where they must present a valid passport with at least three months validity. You may also be asked to provide details of your accommodation, and a return or onward flight.

After clearing Passport Control, make your way to the Baggage Claim area and refer to the monitors to find your flight’s conveyor belt and collect your luggage. The final stage of your arrival is Customs. Biosecurity and Customs are a serious matter in Tahiti and throughout French Polynesia, so it’s important that you declare any fruits, vegetables, or plant material.

Tahiti Airport Transport

Public transport options are somewhat limited at Tahiti Airport. However, there is a public bus network which extends across the island, with easily accessible stops along the main road running in both directions.

Alternatively, you can jump straight in a Tahiti Airport taxi from outside the Arrivals Hall which will transport you directly to your hotel. A Tahiti Airport transfer can also be arranged in advance for a quick and seamless ride to any destination.
