Tahiti Airport Live Departures

Tahiti Airport Departures Check-in Information

Airline counters and check-in desks at Tahiti Airport departures can all be found in the main terminal building on the ground floor. There is a separate area for domestic and international departures, and several check-in desks are located right by the front entrance in an open-air undercover area.

If you plan on checking in on arrival at Tahiti Airport, counters generally open 3-3.5 hours before take-off, and close 1 hour before. You’ll need to use this option if your next destination requires a visa. In any case, it is always best to confirm with your airline directly the best time to arrive.

Certain airlines also offer online check-in, allowing you to save time at the airport. In this instance, you can simply use the “Bag Drop” lane to place your bags before heading to Security.

If you’re flying with Air Tahiti, you’ll have the additional choice of using the self-service kiosks. These are available from 16:00 onwards, up until 25 minutes before your flight’s departure. Similar to checking in online, if you have luggage, you can use the “Bag Drop” lane and then proceed straight to Security.

When to arrive at Tahiti Airport?

What’s next?

After checking in, you’ll need to undergo a Security Clearance, so have your passport and boarding pass ready to present to the officer at the gate. Note that if you’re flying internationally, you will need to clear Immigration first.

Passengers are allowed to take one carry-on item onboard which must pass through an x-ray machine. Any sharp objects and liquids larger than 100mL should be packed in your checked luggage, or you risk them being confiscated.

If you do intend to carry any liquids, gels, aerosols, or creams in your hand luggage, they’ll need to be packed into a separate plastic bag and placed in a tub for inspection. You will also need to empty your pockets and remove your jacket, hat, and belt – if wearing one.

All in all, you should allow up to 45 minutes to complete both procedures. Immigration lines are known to be lengthy, and since the airport is open-air with no air-conditioning, time can stretch even further.

While a Fast Track service isn’t provided by the airport, there are third party services available which offer a VIP experience on departure, including skipping the lines at Immigration and Security.
