Where to get a Tahiti Airport taxi?

The official Tahiti Airport taxi rank is located outside the main terminal building. As you exit the Arrivals Hall, cross the road, and the stand will be on your right.

There’s no need to book a regular taxi, however, at night and during busy holiday periods, you can expect a wait time of up to 30 minutes.

If you’d rather skip the queue and have peace of mind that a car will be waiting for you when you land, we suggest pre-booking your taxi from Tahiti Airport with Welcome Pickups. You’ll enjoy a quick and seamless transfer directly to your hotel in a vehicle that suits the needs of you and any traveling companions.

Useful tips for getting a taxi from Tahiti Airport

  1. Check that the taximeter has been reset to the base fare of €8.38 (XPF 1,000) before starting your ride.
  2. While some drivers allow you to pay for your Tahiti Airport Taxi with a Credit Card, others may not have a payment machine installed. To avoid any hassles on arrival, confirm which payment method is preferred before taking off.
  3. The island has limited taxi services, which can sometimes cause long wait times. Pre-booking a taxi is the only way to guarantee a vehicle that suits your needs will be available on arrival.
  4. Tipping isn’t part of the culture in Tahiti, so only do so if you wish to show your appreciation for good service.
  5. The official currency of Tahiti is the franc. If you plan on paying with cash, try to keep some smaller notes on hand.
  6. Tahiti is a small island so taxi drivers generally know their way around pretty well. However, if you don’t speak French, it’s a good idea to have your address written down or ready to show on Google Maps.
  7. Catching a Tahiti Airport taxi is a safe way to reach your hotel. Vehicles and drivers are heavily regulated by the local government with procedures in place if you need to make a complaint.
  8. A price list should be on display inside the vehicle.

A Tahiti Airport taxi to your hotel

While public buses run regularly from Tahiti Airport, they don’t always accept passengers traveling with luggage. On top of that, since you won’t be dropped off directly at your hotel, you’ll need to find your own way, which can be a little daunting if your French isn’t up to scratch!

Instead, why not enjoy a door-to-door transfer in a comfortable Tahiti Airport taxi? You won’t need to worry about carting your luggage, plus you can enjoy complete privacy in a spacious vehicle while you relax and take in the sights on the way to your destination.
