Arriving at Venice Airport

Disembarking at Venice Airport is a unique experience, as you fly over the interweaving canals of the floating city. Once you leave the plane, follow the signs to “Passport control”. As Italy is part of the Schengen Area, you won’t need to go through passport control if you’re a european citizen travelling from another Schengen country.

Travelling internationally? You’ll need to go through passport control following the appropriate lanes for EU, UK, and Swiss citizens, and “all other passports”. There are passport e-gates for those with electronic passports, otherwise you can join the lanes for manned passport control.

After passport control, you can head to the baggage reclaim area to collect any checked-in luggage. A display screen will let you know which baggage belt to go to according to your flight number. Once you’ve collected your baggage, you can walk through customs. If you have something to declare, follow the red line. If you have nothing to declare, follow the green path. On the other side of customs, you’ll reach the Arrivals Hall. If you’ve booked a private airport taxi with Welcome Pickups, your driver will be there waiting for you! Speaking of which, let’s talk about transport.
