Getting from Venice Airport to Mestre

There are two different bus options when taking a bus from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Mestre, the ATVO Express bus or the ACTV City Bus (Line 15). Because of the routes, if you are staying in the centre of Mestre, it’s advisable to take the ATVO bus and if you’re staying on the outskirts, the ACTV bus will take you closer to your accommodation.

The ATVO Express is by far the most comfortable and quickest option as it only takes 17 minutes to reach the main train station in Mestre. Your other option is to take the ACTV City Bus, which takes around 30 minutes to reach Mestre in light traffic, as it makes multiple stops along the way.

Both the ACTV City Bus and the ATVO Express cost €10 one-way from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Mestre.

You have many options when it comes to buying your ATVO bus ticket, you can purchase tickets from the ATVO ticket counter or automated machines in the baggage area, from either of the two ATVO ticket counters in the arrivals hall or the automatic ticket machines next to the ATVO bus stop.

You can purchase your ACTV City Bus ticket from either the ticket machine at the Public Transportation counter in the arrivals hall or at the Tabacci shop also located in the arrivals hall and marked with a large ‘T’.

Taking a bus from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Mestre isn’t the most convenient option as they don’t run 24/7. If you arrive during the late hours of the night, you will need to either wait a few hours for the next bus or look for a different transfer option. Also, there isn’t any dedicated luggage storage on the buses, so you will need to keep your luggage with you in your seat.
