How to get from Venice Airport to Mestre
There are two different transfer options to get from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Mestre, taking a taxi or a bus. The quickest and most convenient option is to take an airport taxi as the journey will take only 16 minutes in normal traffic. Venice Marco Polo airport taxis arent charged using a flat rate, instead, they use a time-based system, so the journey to Mester will cost around 30€. How to get from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Mestre by bus
There are two different bus options to take from Venice Marco Polo airport (VCE) to Mestre, the ATVO Express bus or the ACTV City bus line 15. Because of the routes, if you are staying in the centre of Mestre, it's advisable to take the ATVO bus and if you're staying more in the outskirts, the ACTV bus will take you closer to your accommodation.
The ATVO Express bus is by far the most comfortable and quickest option as it only takes 17 minutes to reach the main train station in Mestre. Your other option is to take the ACTV City bus line 15 which takes around 30 minutes to reach Mestre in light traffic, as it makes multiple stops along the way.
How much is bus from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Mestre?
Both the ACTV City bus and the ATVO Express bus cost 8€ one-way from Venice Marco Polo (VCE) airport to Mestre.
You have many options when it comes to buying your ATVO bus ticket, from the ATVO ticket counter or automated machines in the baggage area, from either of the two ATVO ticket counters in the arrivals hall, or from the automatic ticket machines next to the ATVO bus stop.
You can purchase your ACTV City bus ticket from either the ticket machine at the Public Transportation counter in the arrivals hall or at the Tabacci shop also located in the arrivals hall and marked by a large 'T'.

The ATVO Express bus is available daily from 6:06 to 00:50 and runs every 17 minutes. The ACTV City bus is available from 5:45 to 20:15 running every 30 minutes.
Where do I get it from?
You can find the ATVO Express bus by exiting the arrivals hall at door D and walking to your left. Here you will see the ATVO bus stops. Stop 1 is the correct bay for Mestre Railway Station. This bus leaves every 17 minutes from 6:06 to 0:50.
The ACTV bus leaves from the bus terminal located just outside the arrivals hall and to your left. You will see the ACTV City bus clearly as they are orange or white with green trim. You can catch this bus ever 30 minutes from 5:45 to 20:15.
Taking a bus from Venice Marco Polo (VCE) airport to Mestre isn't your most convenient option as they don't run 24/7. If you arrive during the late hours of the night, you will need to either wait a few hours for the next bus or look for a different transfer option. Also, there isn't any dedicated luggage storage on the buses, so you will need to manoeuvre and keep your luggage with you at your seat.
Although the ATVO Express bus runs more frequently and is quicker than the ACTV City bus, it will only take you to the Mestre Railway Station. If your accommodation is far from the station, the ACTV bus may actually drop you closer to your hotel and save you extra transport fees or time.
Be sure to validate your ATVO ticket at the yellow stamping machines before or immediately after boarding the bus.
You must swipe your ACTV City bus ticket as you board using the machines available. If your ticket is accepted the reader will flash green.
