Arriving at Dublin Airport

Border control at Dublin Airport is managed by the Border Management Unit (BMU) and all arrivals to Dublin Airport must pass through Customs and Immigration which on average takes 30 minutes, including collecting your luggage from the baggage carousels. In summer during the peak season, the arrivals process can increase to an hour.

Most countries are granted a 90-day visa-free stay on arrival when visiting Ireland. Countries that require a visa must apply for a short stay ‘C’ visit visa before travelling to Ireland which once granted, allows you to stay for up to 90 days. After landing, passengers from Ireland, the EU and the UK should proceed through the EU/EEA/CH and UK immigration channel at Passport Control. Those with a biometric passport can pass through quickly by utilising the eGates. Otherwise, you should proceed to the ‘All Other Passengers’ channel.*

Once you’ve passed through Immigration, follow the signage to the baggage carousels to collect any luggage, and then make your way through to Customs. Arrivals from the EU should use the Blue Customs Channel, whereas all other passengers should use the Green Channel, including UK arrivals.

*If you have items to declare, always use the Red Channel, regardless of where you have arrived from.
