Procedures for arrivals at Heathrow Airport

Whichever terminal you land at, just follow the yellow “Arrivals/Baggage Reclaim” signs until you reach passport control. UK Border Control at Heathrow is colour-coded, and divided into two sections: blue and orange. If you have a UK or EU Passport then follow the blue signs. If your passport is not a UK or EU Passport then follow the orange signs. If you fall under the latter, we recommend checking visa and immigration advice for entering the UK before your flight.

Once you’ve cleared the border checks, follow the signs to baggage reclaim, check which carousel your luggage will be arriving at using the screens, and pick up your bags. From there, all you have to do is head through customs and exit into Heathrow Airport’s Arrivals Hall. Remember to check customs regulations before your trip.

*If you have a biometric passport from an eligible country, you can scan your passport at the e-gates to skip the queues.

Heathrow Airport Transport

London Heathrow Airport arrivals terminals all have signposted exits to a plethora of public transportation options including trains, the underground, buses, and coaches. There is a train station (for rail and underground services) and bus station at Terminals 2-3, Terminal 4, and Terminal 5. Likewise, airport taxis are located directly outside the terminals. Everything is clearly signposted so you won’t have any trouble finding your way.

There are ticket machines for public transport services in the public arrivals area, as well as at the train station. You’ll also find car rental companies, limousine services, and chauffeur providers in the Arrivals Hall.

What to do in Heathrow Airport’s Arrivals Hall?

Whether you arrive at Heathrow Airport early, or you’re picking up a loved one and have some time to kill, Heathrow Airport Arrivals offers plenty of facilities and services for your travel needs. There is a designated meeting point in each terminal in the Arrivals Hall, plenty of seating areas, and access to free WiFi.

Heathrow Airport Arrivals Parking

Passenger pick-ups and drop-offs are not allowed on the terminal forecourts. So your only option is to use Heathrow’s short-stay car parks. There is one for each terminal, except Terminals 2 and 3 which share the same car park, and they are conveniently located a 2-minute walk from the terminals.

Heathrow Airport short-stay parking prices:

  • Up to 30 minutes: £7.50 (€9)
  • Up to 45 minutes £11 (€13)
  • Up to 1 hour: £13.50 (€16)
  • 1-2 hours: £17 (€20)

To use the short-stay car parks, simply drive into the short-stay car park closest to your terminal, take a ticket and pay at one of the self-service machines in the car park before leaving. You cannot pre-book parking for bookings shorter than 24 hours.
