Checking in at Singapore Airport

Singapore Airport is a hugely popular and busy airport with over 80 million passengers passing through it every year. With four terminals, it can be quite overwhelming to navigate. Fortunately, the airport has been designed to be clearly signposted and packed with facilities to make your journey easier.

Your Singapore Changi Airport departure starts at check-in. Your flight ticket should indicate which terminal you need to go to check-in. The monitors at the entrances will also show the correct check-in desk, but our handy live Singapore Airport departures board above may also help. 

To make your check-in experience faster, you can use the FAST check-in machines. These are automated bag-drop and check-in kiosks belonging to each airline. Some airlines allow early check-in too (checking in more than 2 hours before your flight).

• Terminal 1 – Departures is located on Level 2.
• Terminal 2 – Departures is located on Level 2.
• Terminal 3 – Departures is located on Level 2.
• Terminal 4 – Departures is located on Level 2.

When to arrive at Singapore Airport?

It is recommended to arrive at least two hours before your flight to give you time to get through Singapore Airport departures. This is also true for those with layovers in Singapore.

After you have checked in at the airline desk and dropped your bags, you can proceed through security.

At Terminals 1, 2, and 3, security screening is done at your departure gate.

At Terminal 4, security screening is done directly after you’ve gone through the departure immigration desk. To make things easier, take out your passport, and boarding pass for inspection. Then put your liquids, phone, laptop, and keys into a separate tray. Make sure your pockets are emptied into the tray. 

Boots, coats, belts and other outerwear should go in a separate tray. Then place your luggage on the security belt. 

Once you’ve offloaded your things onto the security belt, you can pass through the metal detectors. It can take around 30-40 minutes to get through security depending on how busy it is. If you’d like a fast-track through security, you can book this with your airline.

What to do in Departures at Singapore Airport?

Singapore Changi Airport is often heralded as one of the best airports in the world because it is so well-equipped. In terms of facilities, you can expect plenty of charging points, toilets (including accessible toilets and baby change areas), showers, prayer rooms, meditation rooms, sleep pods, currency exchanges, ATMs, information desks, and smoking areas.
