To get to Marina Bay, the most efficient and the only direct airport transfer option is by getting a Changi airport taxi. This travel option only takes 17 minutes to reach Marina bay for the cost of €12 (S$20), in normal traffic conditions. If you are looking for a cheaper option for your airport transfer, you can take the MRT metro. However, you will have to change metro lines during your trip in order to reach Bayfront; this option takes 30 minutes for the cost of €1.20 (S$2). Moreover, your last travel option is a bus transfer, taking around 1 hour with a cost of €1.50 (S$2.50). This travel option includes a short walk, as the bus stop is not directly at the Marina.

How to get from Singapore International Airport to the Marina Bay by taxi

Your fastest and only direct airport transfer to Marina Bay is by taking a taxi. Taxis provide a 24/7 door-to-door service, directly from the airport to any area within the bay in only 17 minutes. Singapore airport taxis are available at the official taxi ranks at all 3 terminals. Please be aware that taxis in Singapore are operated by many different companies; therefore, taxis at the airport rank may all be different car models, sizes and colours. To make sure that you are taking an official taxi, your driver’s taxi licence should be clearly displayed in the vehicle and the taximeter should running.

Taxi fare from Singapore airport to Marina Bay

Taxis in Singapore calculate their fares using a taximeter, based on the distance and time travelled. Furthermore, the fare can be affected by a number of different factors, such as the standard airport pickup fee of €1.85 (S$3) from Monday to Friday, and € 3.10(S$5) on weekends and public holidays.
In addition to this, a toll charge is applied when entering the city from Monday to Friday between 07:00 – 19:00, from 07:30 – 09:30 on weekends and public holidays and from 13:00 the day before major holidays (Christmas, New Year, Deepavali).
Finally, an extra 25% is added to any fare within rush hours; Monday to Friday between 06:00 – 09:30 and everyday between 18:00 and 23:59. There is a 50% extra charge on daily taxi trips between 00:00 and 06:00.

All in all, in normal traffic conditions, the overall taxi ride should cost around €12 (S$20).

How to get from Singapore International Airport to Marina Bay by metro

There is no direct metro line from Changi International Airport to the Bay area. If you decide to take the metro, you will need to change metro lines during your transfer. When entering the metro at Singapore Changi airport, you will firstly need to stop at Tanah Merah station. From there, take the East/West (Green) line to Payar Lebar station, where you can then change to the Circle (Yellow) line to reach Bayfront. Alternatively, you can travel to Bugis station from Tanah Merah and take the Downtown (Blue) line to Bayfront. Both methods are similar in time and are the same price.

Please note that there are metro rush hours between 08:00 – 09:00, 12:30 – 14:00 and 19:30 – 22:15 every day.

How much is a metro ticket from Singapore airport to Marina Bay?

Metro fares are based on the distance travelled to your destination.
Single metro tickets can be purchased at the General Ticketing Machines at the metro station, and can be used up to 6 times within 30 days. You will need to pay a €0.10 deposit for the card, which will be returned to you once you give your card back. Please note, that when buying your tickets from this machine, these machines only accept cash. If you are buying your tickets using this metrocard, a single journey will cost €1.20 (S$2).

Your other option is to purchase the EZ-Link card, as this is a rechargeable card that can be used on different public transportation and provides special discounts on these trips. These are available at ticket offices near the MRT terminal in the airport and are also refundable when you leave the city. The card costs €3 (S$5) and the rest of your card top up is credit. If you are using the EZ-Link card, the MRT journey will only cost €1.08 (S$1.74).

The metro is available from 05.51 - 23.18 (Mon-Fri) and 05.31 - 23:18 (Sat, Sun & Holidays). It runs every 7 to 9 minutes during peak hours and every 12 to 13 outside these hours.

Where do I get it from?

The MRT metro station can be found on level -1 at both terminals 2 and 3 at the airport – signs “train to city” are placed around the airport in order to guide you.

There are 3 terminal buildings at Singapore airport and if you need to make your way from one terminal to another, a few options are available. The most common option is to take the SkyTrain, which operates from 05:30 to 02:30, every day and takes around 5 to 7 minutes to get between terminals.

Moreover, there is a shuttle bus that connects terminals 2 and 3 which operates between 05:30 and 02:30 and goes to Gate E and B. Finally, if you need to reach/leave from terminal 4, a specific shuttle bus is available, however you will need to show your boarding pass before you can board the shuttle. It is available from terminal 2’s arrival hall and operates 24/7.


Although being a cheaper option, taking the metro can be long and overcrowded during peak hours when heading to Bayfront. Furthermore, having to change metro line after a long flight and with luggage can be difficult.

Marina Bay Sands and the shopping area is connected to the Bayfront Station; so once you have arrived, you will have easy access to the hotel shopping malls and restaurants.

You can also disembark the metro at Raffles Place across Marina Bay when travelling on the E/W (Green) line, for a famous Singapore Sling!
Marina Bay provides a nice walk at night, you can always disembark the metro before reaching your final destination and walk the rest of the way, making the most of the beautiful view!

How to get from Singapore International Airport to Marina Bay by bus

Just like the MRT metro, there is no direct bus route from the airport to Marina Bay, and there will be an additional short walk from the bus stop. However, this airport transfer option to Marina bay is is quite pleasant if you are not travelling with much luggage. If you decide to take this travel option, you will firstly need to take the 36/36A bus from the airport, changing bus at either Raffles Ave bus stop or Temasek Blvd, depending on which side of the Bay you would like to go to. This bus journey takes around 50 minutes, as the bus marks many stops along the way. From there you will have to walk an additional 10 minutes to your final destination in the Bay area.

Note: A shuttle bus service operates from the airport, however it is more expensive, costing €5.60 (S$9pp), and is best for solo travellers with light luggage. It stops at major hotels within the Bay area and runs 24/7, leaving the airport every 15 minutes during hours and every 30 minutes in normal hours. It takes approximately 25 minutes to reach the centre and tickets can be purchased from the Ground Transport desk at the arrivals hall.

How much is a bus ticket from Singapore airport to Marina Bay?

It is recommended buying your bus ticket using an EZ- Link card, in this case, the bus fare will be €1.13 (S$1.84), if you purchase a regular bus ticket it will cost you €1.50 (S$2.50).
You can also purchase a regular ticket directly from the bus driver, however, make sure to have the correct amount on you as the driver does not give change.

You can find the bus station on level -1 at terminals 1, 2 and 3 at the airport – signs “bus to city” are placed around the airport in order to guide you. If you are in Terminal 4, you can get a bus near the car park zone labelled 4B.


Although taking the bus is a cheaper transfer option, it is definitely not the most convenient. Having to find your way around the different bus routes, whilst carrying your luggage can be very tiresome, especially after a long flight. Moreover, the multiple bus stops along the way, makes this the longest transfer option.

The airport bus does not have a lot of luggage space; if you are travelling with big luggage, it is recommended to take a private transfer.

Buses run fairly regularly, so if one is too full, there shouldn't be too long a wait for the next one.
The bus will be labelled 36 during the day, and then it will change over to 36A at night.
