To do so, you have 3 airport transfer options from Changi to Sentosa. Your first and only direct option is to take a Singapore airport taxi, with a travel time of around 22 minutes. Your second option is to take the MRT metro line, getting you from the airport to Sentosa in 45 minutes. Your third and final option is to take the bus. This is a more challenging option as you will have to take a few buses before reaching your destination, taking a total of 1 hour 30 minutes.

Your best airport transfer option when heading to Sentosa is by taxi. This travel option will provide a door-to-door service, taking you straight across the bridge to Sentosa island and giving you the peace of mind you deserve; thus avoiding queues for the monorail or the walk across the boardwalk. Moreover, taxis in Singapore are comfortable and convenient and are operated by a various companies that come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Changi airport taxis calculate their fares using a taximeter, so based on the time and distance travelled.

When taking a private transfer from the airport, a few additional fees will add up to your total taxi fare, such as a standard airport pickup fee of €1.85 (S$3) from Monday to Friday, or €3.10 (S$5) on weekends and public holidays. An additional toll charge is also applied to any journey into the city. However, your end taxi fare to Sentosa Island should cost around €15, under normal traffic conditions.

Moreover, an extra 25% may apply during peak hours: Monday to Friday between 06:00 – 09:30 and everyday between 18:00 and 23:59. And an extra 50% charge on daily taxi journeys between 00:00 – 06:00.

Taxis are available from the official ranks at all airport terminals (1, 2 and 3). Taxi ranks can easily be found by following the signs around the airport.

Taxis are the most convenient travel option as they offer a door-to-door service, take care of your luggage and all in the comfort of a private vehicle. It is always advisable to book your private transfer in advance when entering Singapore as local taxis charge extra at certain times and on certain days.

If you wish to make you way to Sentosa on a more scenic route, you can take a Mt Faber cable cars. However, if you are travelling with luggage, it is not as convenient.

How to get from Singapore International Airport to Sentosa by metro

When arriving at Changi International Airport, you have the choice to take the MRT metro line to Sentosa. Unfortunately, there are no direct metro lines from the airport to Sentosa, you will firstly need to take the East West (Green) line from the airport to Tanah Merah station and then take the North East (Purple) line to Harbourfront. This journey should take around 45 minutes from Changi airport.

From Harbourfront, you will need to either take the Singapore Express (monorail) to the island which takes around 7 minutes, or walk the boardwalk (which is free), and takes and extra 15 minutes.

How much is a metro ticket from Singapore airport to Sentosa?

Metro fares are based on the distance travelled to your destination.
Single metro tickets can be purchased at the General Ticketing Machines at the metro station, and can be used up to 6 times within 30 days. You will need to pay a €0.10 deposit for the card, which will be returned to you once you give your card back. Please note, that when buying your tickets from this machine, these machines only accept cash. If you are buying your tickets using this metrocard, a single journey will cost €1.20 (S$2).

Your other option is to purchase the EZ-Link card, as this is a rechargeable card that can be used on different public transportation and provides special discounts on these trips. These are available at ticket offices near the MRT terminal in the airport and are also refundable when you leave the city. The card costs €3 (S$5) and the rest of your card top up is credit. If you are using the EZ-Link card, the MRT journey will only cost €1.08 (S$1.74).

Additionally, if you wish to take the Sentosa Express monorail, this will cost an additional €2.40 (S$4). You can either purchase these tickets within the station or using your EZ-Link Card.

The metro is available from 05.51 - 22.18 (Mon-Fri) and from 05.31 - 23:18 (Sat, Sun & Holidays). It runs every 7-9 minutes during peak hours and 12-13 minutes outside of these hours.

Where do I get it from?

The MRT metro station can be found on level -1 at both terminals 2 and 3 at the airport – signs “train to city” are placed around the airport in order to guide you.

There are 3 terminal buildings at Singapore airport and if you need to make your way from one terminal to another, a few options are available. The most common option is to take the SkyTrain, which operates from 05:30 to 02:30, every day and takes around 5 to 7 minutes to get between terminals.

Moreover, there is a shuttle bus that connects terminals 2 and 3 which operates between 05:30 and 02:30 and goes to Gate E and B. Finally, if you need to reach/leave from terminal 4, a specific shuttle bus is available, however you will need to show your boarding pass before you can board the shuttle. It is available from terminal 2’s arrival hall and operates 24/7.

Convenience

Although being a cheaper option, taking the metro can be long and overcrowded during peak hours when heading to Harbourfront. Furthermore, having to change metro line after a long flight and with luggage can be difficult.

The waiting time for the monorail can be long and overcrowded during peak hours.
If you are not travelling with too much luggage, walking across the boardwalk is very pleasant and provides great views of the harbour.

How to get from Singapore International Airport to Sentosa by bus

There is no direct bus line to Sentosa Island from the airport; meaning that you will have to change buses at Marina Bay, just like the MRT metro transfer – however, this journey is a lot longer. Firstly, you will need to take the 36/36A bus, alighting at Temasek Ave – Ritz Carlton from the airport, and then change to the 97 bus heading to Vivocity. From there, you can take the Sentosa Express monorail (which takes 7 minutes) and access the boardwalk (which takes 15 minutes) to reach Sentosa.

How much is a bus ticket from Singapore airport to Sentosa?

It is recommended buying your bus ticket using an EZ- Link card, in this case, the bus fare will be €1.13 (S$1.84), if you purchase a regular bus ticket it will cost you €1.50 (S$2.50).
You can also purchase a regular ticket directly from the bus driver, however, make sure to have the correct amount on you as the driver does not give change.

You can purchase an EZ-Link card at the airport’s ticketing offices at the arrivals area. You can also use this card when taking the Sentosa Express monorail. Alternatively, you can purchase the single transfer when you get to the station.

The bus journey is long, and it can be very tiresome to change buses with your luggage after a long flight. In this case, it would be easier and more comfortable getting a private transfer from Changi International Airport to Sentosa.
