The first thing you need to do when departing from Cancun Airport is check in. There are a couple of ways to do this; you can head to the airline check-in desks, drop off your luggage and show your travel documents, or use the self-service kiosks for a faster process. Anyone traveling with carry-on luggage only can check-in online and head directly through security.

When to arrive at Cancun Airport?
When it comes to arriving at Cancun Airport at the right time, the airport recommends arriving 2 hours before national departures and 3 hours before international flights. However, if you’ve checked in online and don’t have any luggage to drop off, you can arrive a bit later to avoid waiting around in the airport.

After you’ve completed any check-in procedures, make sure you have your boarding pass and necessary travel documents ready so that you can head through Cancun Airport security. Don’t forget that you must keep your Tourist Card (immigration form) for the duration of your stay and present it along with your passport upon departure.

What to do in Departures at Cancun Airport?
Cancun Airport has four terminals. Of the terminals available to the public, Terminal 2 is mainly used for domestic flights, while Terminals 3 and 4 are used for international flights. All the departures areas offer plenty of amenities, facilities and services to passengers including internet and WiFi stations, currency exchange and cash services, VIP lounges, Duty-free stores and shops, and food and drink outlets such as Starbucks and TGI Friday’s.
